I was thinking about vitamin deficiencies and the cause of Schizophrenia not too long ago. Here is something I found online:

In the vast majority of cases, schizophrenia is an acute psychospiritual crisis which has usually been triggered by a traumatic life conflict. However, the following physical conditions can also trigger psychotic disturbances:
Cerebral allergies, Vitamin B-3 and B-6 dependencies, vitamin deficiencies (e.g. scurvy, pellagra), EFA deficiencies, mineral (e.g. zinc) deficiencies, toxic ractions to (e.g.) lead, or drugs (including psychiatric drugs), LSD, marijuana and other hallucinogens, infections such as rheumatic fever, syphilis, food allergies (e.g. to milk)

Another site mentioned hormonal changes and vitamin deficiencies as a possible cause. I think I'm going to talk about this with my psychiatrist.

Hmm what the hell does vitamin b3 and b6 dependencies mean? I take b vitamins...

    Not often enough but still...

I've read there is a connection between schizophrenia and a lack of niacin as well.

These disorders, which are characterized as mental illness, are often the result of an individual’s greater need for vitamins or minerals than the average person. When the necessary nutrients are provided, the mind functions normally.

From another website. Mentions something about treating the mental illness with vitamin b3 as well.
    Ah here it is:
Schizophrenia has been successfully treated with high doses of vitamin B-3 and vitamin C since the 1950s.

Could it be that these natural cures really are effective? There are many other such natural cures in medicine to complement technology.

Recently my psychiatrist told me one cause of schizophrenic symptoms could be due to not having enough oxygen to the brain. He told me to smoke outside and exercise. I feel exercise should be done regardless of mental illness, but I suppose that just gives me yet another reason to do so.

Well just trying to keep an open mind. Let me know your thoughts.

Schizophrenia is still a pretty mysterious illness.

It's not that well understood, so the difficulty is in finding what works for a effective treatment. It has to be done on a person by person basis, as all are different.

There are a whole bunch of possible triggers. Treatment will always be a ritual of trial and error.
