I can't seem to find out if this has any meat in it, it says it has natural flavourings in the broth so I'm not sure. Does anyone know if this brands Veggie and Mushroom ramen are safe for vegetarians? Also, can anyone recomend some good veggi friendly instant noodles?
I used to like Ramen noodles also, but I don't like the fact that their is so much sodium in all of the noodle packages. I did a quick search today to see if I could find an answer to your question about ramen for vegetarians: How can I cut down on the salt content of Top Ramen? Simply adjust the amount of seasoning you add, perhaps putting in just half of the packet. Or, you could eliminate the seasoning packet altogether and add your own seasonings. Do you have any vegetarian products? Our Top Ramen Oriental and Cup Noodles Vegetarian Vegetable flavors contain no animal products.
^^ I recently checked the ingredients on top ramen oriental for the first time in years (though I haven't eaten it in years, anyway... I was just curious) and was surprised to see that beef broth had been added to it at some point. If you have a local hfs or something along those lines they might have something suitable. It's just a matter of checking the ingredients on everything, which I do anyway. The "Natural flavor" etc. is a judgement call, and depends entirely on your reasons for choosing veg and where your comfort lies. If you don't know for sure, can it still hurt you or the environment?
I'm a vegetarian for political reasons, so I like to contribute to the protection of the environment by avoiding meat as much as possible, I'm just not ready to jump to vegan yet. I think I will just start adding a bit of marmite to the boiling water instead of the flavour packet for the ones I have remaining and then just stick with PC vegetarian blue menu chili/soup cups.
