hey if u got any old clothes or material then that's a huge start. U can use old jeans and say turn them into shorts or skirts or even purses. samething with any material! Use your imagination that's the key!!peace!

I started off making an ankle-length a line skirt. If you can use a waistband, all the better (just buy an elastic waistband, meaurse it 3 inches longer than your waist, and sew it into the hem without actually sewing over the elastic or else it won't work. Your mom'll probably know how). It just uses straight lines. If you wanna do something smaller first (good idea), do a straight ol' square purse. Sewing was surprisingly easy, it's been 3 weeks since I started and I've made like 4 skirts, 2 patchwork skirts, like 3 purses, a bag for my hedgehog to j=hide in when I carry him around town, an apron, and now a corset:) lol I'm addicted.

Anywho, it's a great pastime and it's tons of fun, just start off with something really simple that only uses staright lines and hems, or else even better, just alter clothes at first to gett he feel:)Good luck!
