Heres where I need your cleverness. a) fuck pop cans b) fuck apple pipes, ive used them too many times basically im looking for something i can use as a bowl. I've heard of some people using lug nuts , etc. Any suggestions?

No. I used to own: Bong with ice chamber Hookah Two 40 dollar pipes Two one hitters grinder and a ton of other shit. I said in the op that I got rid of it all because I am leaving to go to Univeristy. I am leaving in 3 days and for now, 1/4 socket will do the trick for a home made hydro. I hate fruit/vegetable pipes.

IMO fruit/vege pipes are the best way to go, especially compared to any kind of wooden pipe, like a lugnut, and any kind of metal. i think metal burns eventually, plus those socket wrenches aren't meant to be smoked out of , theres no safety regulations on it at all. you'll probably be fine from it but if i were you I would use the apple pipe. tell u what, you can use the apple as a pipe, but hold the apple against a water bottle, or gum it, and use that as a bong with the apple as the bowl. hell you could even use the metal socket as a bic tube to hold the whole thing together. haha
Before I was able to get nice pipes so easily, I would always make them out of prescription bottles and salt shakers. Just take the top of the salt shaker off and jam it into the top of the bottle. Then put a hole in the bottle and stick some kind of tube in it--maybe the shaft of a pen.
I dunno if bottles are out of the question but you could always make a waterfall by burning a hole in one of the "legs" and drilling a hole in the cap and making a mouthpiece out of it. Then fill it with water while covering the hole, light the bowl and let go of the hole. When the water's all drained out, take the top off and hit it. And what's the risk of bringing papers on the plane?
I saw that on waytoomany and its what im going to do. And imo, burning the metal on a socket is no different than metal bowls that come with a pipe. There is no way that a bic can reach the oxidizing point of metal. MAYBE a butane. and to the papers. i know about that. its a 5 minute walk to the store. ive smoked too many joints. trying to go for home made variety.
something that makes a great one hitter is steal or buy a fancy metal pen.. whether its stolen from an office or you buy one.. take it apart and unscrew the ink thingy.. and then pack weed in it and hit it from where the ink would pop out
you could shove that 1/4 socket into the top of a paper towel tube, close off one of the holes, and use it as a steamroller.
