I preparing my second batch of San Pedro (24 inches this time), and I'm cooking it down according to a recipe I found on the internet. I'm boiling it in a crockpot on high for 24 hours, then low for another 12. Then I'm taking out the pulp with cheese cloth, and boiling down the remains to 4-6 ounces. If anyone thinks that I'm reducing the potency, let me know. It's just much easier to down 4 ounces rather than 5 cups!!!

well you will pry lose a small amount of mescaline, but that is still a good idea. don't worry about it.

I would rather drink 5 cups of my own urine than 5 cups of cacti brew- and if you lose potency so what- unless you have a very limited supply it's much better to lose some potency and use a bit more cacti for the same effect- than putting yourself through the aweful experience of munching that shit raw- I tried it once and come to one conclusion- for myself it is impossible to physically eat enough raw cactus to make me trip so for we brewing is the only way to go. Also I've found that 15 hours of boiling is enough- I think the process you're about to undertake will only make a marginal difference- so unless you only have a limited supply...
    Enjoy

As long as you don't boil it on too high a heat, there should be no negative effects from boiling it down. I have always boiled down my cacti, and it has always worked perfectly. my last time was with 2 feet of san pedro and it was the most amazing experience that I have ever had with any substance. I boiled it down to a cups worth. I almost burned it too, with an almost black skin forming on it in the final moments of reducing.

does it really need 36 hours of cooking??? i usually cook it for 6-11 hours and i've always recieved results.

I tried that preparation method. I found chopping up or blending the cactus to be very difficult, next time I will dry the cactus into powder which I think is an easier way.

    cut cactus into chunks
    put some water with it
    put it in a blender
    hit on
    wait
    put it in a pot
put on low/med heat for some hours
    stir

your right, that is extremely difficult

i found it extremely easy, and I did all of those steps above, and then strained it, and put it on heat again so I only had to drink like a shot.

I dont know why you guys still boil this shit. I swear on my mothers grave that juicing the skins is the next best thing to actually making mescaline extract. plus it doesnt stink or take twelve hours. and you only get like 4-6oz of potent juice from each twelve foot cutting that you can actually simmer down if you wanted to. It mixes very well with V8 juice to cover the taste.
