I'm getting mine pulled tomorrow. I'm pretty nervous. I told them I had bad anxiety so they gave me valium to take in the morning, then they are putting more in my IV. Then local anestetic and novacaine. But I'm still nervous. Who's had theirs pulled already? Reassure me that I'll be fine, PLEASSSSE!!!
I wont sugar-coat it... it fucking sucks. I got all mine pulled about a year ago.. and the surgery isnt what gets you (I got laughing gas and some IV sedative, so I was passed out), its the moment the painkiller wears off, and the moment you realize you've got gauze packing your mouth shut. Or maybe its the moment when you realize those gauze are soaked with blood, and that blood has been running down your chin and all over your shirt as you leave the endontists office... Then, the stitches are fucking ANNOYING as hell, and you still have fresh wounds in your mouth so you cant eat SHIT.Just pudding. And that will hurt too. The stitches will eventually (around 3 weeks) work themselves out, and they are fucking disgusting and smell after being saturated with food and drink for that whole time. On a positive note; you do get hydrocodone. However, this isn't really all that positive because they are only 7.5s and they only gave me fucking 15 of them... Haha, but I'll stop scaring you now. Just get it done with, and deal with the shitty couple weeks after the surgery. Believe me, I feel your pain. Oh and hey, a word of wisdom; DONT EAT THE SHIT THEY TELL YOU NOT TO EAT. By the end of week 1, I was eating popcorn, chips, all kind of shit you're not supposed to... because I was fucking sick of pudding. So finally that shit healed up, and about a month later my jaw swelled up fuckin HUGE. I went in, and turns out part of the food I wasnt supposed to be eating got stuck in extraction site of one of the wisdom teeth, and the gums healed over it. The food was causing a massive infection and I had to go in and get MORE fucking surgery. They drilled a hole in my gums and got to the infection, and there was all this brown puss-shit that stunk to the high fuckin heavens.... so yeah, DONT EAT SHIT YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO. And if you absolutely cannot resist, wash the area with water after everytime you eat and make DAMN sure there is no food in there.... Oh yeah, and don't smoke for a while after. That can create a dry socket which will be painful as all hell. If you really wanna smoke after a couple days, make sure the spots where they pulled the teeth are completely covered with gauze while you smoke, so the smoke wont get in there... And don't let the cottonmouth get so bad it feels like you have sand in your mouth... having water handy is a good thing. ........ i cant believe I just wrote all that about wisdom teeth :O
really isnt that bad, you'll be fine since you dont have a problem with needles right? That was my biggest issue. Since your getting knocked out all you feel is the burn of the medicine going in then you wake up on a couch or something. Just eat lots of milkshakes and smoothies, pears and peaches in the blinder werent bad also. Plus they give you pain pills and they'll take care of any pain you have after there pulled. Probably the worst thing is that you wont be able to smoke for a while cause it'll get infected i believe, plus the sucking can rip the stitches out too.
that sounds very similar to the surgery i had exept mine was for my overbite and they actually made a incision in my jaw and moved it forward i was knocked out of course and when i woke up i had a tube leading into my mouth with blood pouring out i look where it goes and its a huge bag of my blood 5 days in the hospital with replacement meal shit in a syringe at 6am and two more times throughout the day my mouth was then shut closed for the next 2 weeks and i could only drink stuff like shakes and smoothies i lost 10 pounds but let me tell you no matter the pain the best feeling is eating after that 2 weeks it was the best popcorn chicken in my life
^^^ Yeah I don't think I'll have such a hard time Only one of my teeth is partically-impacted, the rest are already through in my mouth. The surgery is only suppose to be 30 mins long and I'm only getting stiches on the tooth that's impacted. They said I should be back to normal eating wise and feeling wise in 3 days so yeah, I just get freaked out at the denist, and being "put under" scares me too.
i don't think its painful but one of the juniors who rode my bus last year had hers pulled and her cheeks and jaw line bruised and turned green.
^^^ OUCH. Yeah my girlfriend's older sister got a wicked infection and had to have her gums cut open and drained twice... YUCCCCKKK.
I hope my perfect dental record keeps up into my old age. No cavities in 15 and a half years, hellz yeah!
