    Anyone seen this documentary?

It's free to watch on google video:
    http://video.google.es/videoplay?do...431&start=0&num=10&so=0&type=search&plindex=0

It's basically about some green @ists from Eugene, OR who went to Seattle in '99 to join in the alterglobalization anti-WTO protests & the subsequent battles of cops v. demonstrators. IMO, it's really well done: great cinematography, music, footage, many diverse points of view (everyone gets a say! from the bum on the street, to the Jesus freak, to the pacifist, to the radical window-smashin'-dumpster-lightin' @ist), etc. It's only an hour long... give it a shot.

Hell yeah, love it! You probably won't ever come across the DVD but if you do the commentary is great also. It is one of the guys in the movie giving his analysis of how everything went and about the larger protest movement. There is another documentary called Pickaxe that is about a differnt kind of protest tactics used in Eugene to protect the forest there, much less action but still good, also on google vid. Do you read the stuff on CrimethINC?, they are the guys who made Breaking the Spell. If not check it out its anarchy for middle class troublemakers

Yep, good recommendations all around. I will certainly look for that commentary. I haven’t seen it yet but would love to. Would it be on AKPress’s DVD version? If so I’ll have to scoop that up.
When I first found out about this documentary on AKPress I saw that it came as a double feature with Pickaxe, and low & behold it’s up on google video too for anyone interested!
I liked it! A little bit more dated film editing/production and resistance tactics, but what do you expect for something like this that’s over a decade old. Overall, I found Pickaxe educational and historically significant as well. A great companion to Breaking the Spell.

Yeah the commentary is on that version, http://www.crimethinc.com/a/dvd/ thats the website of the folks who made the DVD and it cost 10$ there, its weird that AK press would up the price. Yeah I thought Pickaxe was pretty boring, but the other one is so action packed its impossible to compare. Oh yeah on the DVD they also have a movie called The Miami Model thats about another protest that gets their asses kicked by the cops, its probably online too. One big torrent looks pretty good. Last thing check out the book Days of War, Nights of Love very good, will probably change the way you see some things

Yeah, I got a hold of a copy of the Miami Model from OneBigTorrent. It's the one on the FTAA where the lady gets shot in the head by rubber bullets I think.

AKPress probably raised the price to cover shipping & stocking costs. I'm sure it's cheaper for CrimethInc. to sell since they make the copies in house.

I haven't heard of that book, but thanks for the recommendation. I'll have to check it out.

    Holy shit! What assholes!

The "we will find you" pre-vid ad made me balk/chuckle, how Orwellian.

For sure, no problem. I've been buying stuff from them for a while now. I especially like their DIY section. Reading just a handful of books you can live virtually independent of corporations and outside communities. Go organic gardening and bicycle repair!
