Im new to ambient and trance

I love ambient and trance but I don't really know any bands or where to find good bands. Thanks for your help.

 

Go get Brian Eno's Ambient 1: Music for Airports. Then go get Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2. Then, if you're still interested, get Eno's Discreet Music and then Apollo: Atmospheres & Soundtracks. That should keep you busy. Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works 85-92 is pretty good, but 2 is more like Eno's ambient stuff, which I'm a big fan of. If Eno's Ambient 1 really catches your attention, good luck finding 2-4. Some of his stuff is hard to find.
As for trance, I don't really know much.

I definitely agree. Also if you like drum and bass and or some beeps and blips check out Aphex Twin's Drukqs, Richard D. James Album, and Come to Daddy. Personally I'm not really in to trance but I heard Infected Mushroom is pretty good.

What's the difference between psytrance and goa?

You should listen to Atrium Carceri. Alone, in the dark, high. Should yield interesting results.

 

ummm....psytrance it's the whole deffnitaion of the psychedelic scene....but where i live, psycheddelic trance is between goa and full-on....such as the early metirial's of infected mushroom, talpa, nystagmus, planum,

 

Thanks, but how can I tell the two apart? I mean, what makes goa sound different from regular psytrance?

 

Goa has more layers of sound then the psy.
most of the goa musc is from 1993-2000, theres sometimes albums of goathat ccame up untill 2004.
in 2004 a label from belgium came up and started to publish only goa, but with better sound such as "Filteria" and "Khetzal"
