As a 21 year old male, I find that even with my diagnosed conditions I often run across doctors who are not only suspicious of my attempts to obtain the pain killers I need, but also those who tend to be willing to give me hydrocodone and even oxycodone but not oxycontin and mscontin (which would be much better for me, since my pain lasts all day, regardless of whether I'm active or not). I've been seeing, for the most part, my primary care specialist (a pulmonologist), and my rhumetologist, and both of them seem particularly wary of prescribing what I need. This question is rather vague and may be naive, but how have you all gone about getting your doctors to stop under-prescribing you for your pain? I figured I'd ask here since I've noticed a lot of you have chronic conditions like I do, and I'm starting to get irritated that almost every month I find myself in a bind for a whole week trying to get new scripts from my doctor after I've finished what he's given me at first. Any advice or thoughts are appreciated!
Because of the extremely high abuse and addiction risk with opiates (because most people who are getting these things are uneducated about opiates), doctors don't like to just prescribe them to people who ask. A lot of people abuse them and sell them and they have a bad stigma attached to them. Poppy Tea seems a good route for you. Either that or heroin, controlled doses of course. Just get some gelcaps and take the H that way.
please do not listen to an 18year old kid who is telling you to use heroin as a long term pain management tool...(you know the rest) just try to get oxy and DO NOT crush it up , use it the way its meant to be used and you will be fine
Haha, Heroin as a long term pain management tool...ridiculous. Don't worry Acga5. I'm not that stupid. I'll go with the oxy idea. Thanks
With two pre-diagnosed conditions known to cause chronic pain?? Yeah, I can usually get pain meds prescribed just by asking. In fact, I don't even have to ask usually. Usually they write me a script regardless of whether I ask or not. The reason I put up the OP was so that I could ask about other things I can do on the side to treat the breakthrough pain. The oxycodone just isn't cutting it. But seriously man - using heroin to treat pain long term? What kind of idea is that?
Dude, he was just suggesting a solution to your original question, you should have worded it better or not posted it at all. Actually, heroin in controlled amounts is just like morphine or (MS cot.). Aslong as your not plunging everyday it helps when you don't have that bottle of oxycodone sitting on your counter. Oh, don't rag on someone because of there age either to ACGA5
u probably do or want to do heroin anywayz..u obviously have a habit and addicted to the opiates..u probably run out of ur meds, withdrawal and then u try and get more opiates from ur dr...but dont turn to H...fuck stay off the opiates get on Suboxone and be done with the opiate addiction, ur not in that much pain otherwise u would be on OC u poon boy lol!1!!!
Hey B-Man, Good call. I wasn't really thinking about it when I posted that reply. Obviously, H in controlled amounts is essentially no more dangerous than any other opiate. And I suppose it would be helpful for that week or so every month that I have to do without. I've been using marijuana recently, strictly because its easy access, and doesn't really cost me anything. Only problem is, my lungs are the one part of my body I can't fuck with. I may actually try the H thing that was suggested that I, for no good reason, subsequently ripped on. Thanks everyone, btw, for the replies on this thread.
Oh, and btw, I finally got two specialist appointments - one with a rheumotologist and the other with a pain specialist so i'm pretty sure that by next week this whole problem will be solved. Thanks again
