begginner to growing.. looking for some tips

i am becoming more and more interested in growing my own mushies, although the only thing i know is that u need a big glass jar or fishbowl type of container and that they need no light, i plan on reading a grow guide on shroomery.org but i was wondering if any vets could give me a few pointers so i dont ruin it, i still live at home and if i fuck it up i have no other opportunity to buy more spores.
