I have read The Power of Now many times. I usually pick it up and just start reading from it every now and then. It is a great book.

I agree, like a number of other self help books based on Buddhist precepts, it's an excellent read, and I would highly recommend it. I would also recommend The Four Agreements by Miguel Ruiz.

I like your signature quote. Of course another perspective is that there is no first or second or third anything... just 'there is'. [IMG]

I got a lot out of The Power of Now, but I've found his next book (A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life' Potential) even easier to integrate into my life.

There are some things in there that can be hard to grasp if you have never been exposed to them. What are you finding complicated?

I did like the book very much, however I found it very difficult to do the " watch the thinker " exercise. I do like a lot of the concepts however, but I feel that our " thoughts and thinking " are not neccessarly a bad thing.

    peace..

Nothing wrong with "thinking" as long as you don't forget it's a program and you are the programmer. We can get caught up running around in a maze. This book is a practice - it amazes me how I can so naturally fall into thought patterns and miss the Now. And the perception of that Now gets deeper and deeper as I let go of the programming.

I love the Four Agreements ANd Power of Now.

I tried to read A New Earth and it was just the same thing as Power of Now that I could not finish it.

The "Power of Now" is an interesting and insightful read. The follow-up, "A New Earth," appears to be nothing more than a vague re-statement of the concepts brought forth in the first book: It was most likely a feeble attempt to capitalize on the success of "The Power of Now."

I don't agree. I found "A New Earth" a delightful read. Tolle gets more specific about how to apply the data he put forth in "The Power of Now". Very empowering info WHEN APPLIED. Understanding something intellectually and knowing something experientially are quite different.

I would like to read PIKHAl. I figure that would be a nice revelation into how much what we love got created.

I read A New Earth first and it really clicked for me. Just cleared up a lot of weird thinking in my life and helps me to separate from it. I also read parts of Practicing the Power of Now but didn't care for it as much as it seemed somewhat bossy. The audio Gateways to Now was very helpful though. I sort of feel like I got all the information I need at this point and it's just a question of continuing to work with it and learn how to use it.
