    Hi all,

I was wondering if Asthma and COPD have the same treatment since they are different?
If you have a prescription note stating something like this below, will it be for Asthma or COPD? I think it is more for Asthma the treatment prescribed.
    Item 1 : Salmaterol Inhaler ( 2 puffs bd)
    Item 2: Budesonide Turbohaler ( 3 puffs tds - 200ug dose)
    Item 3 : Salbutamol Inhaler (2 puffs 6 hourly)

What is really the big difference between Asthma and COPD?

Thank you all for your advice,
    Regards

item 1. used to treat both
item 2. used to treat asthma
item 3. used to treat both.

From what I gather COPD is more extreme than asthma in that it involves a restriction of the airway that is not fully reversable, i.e. its like that all the god damn time. Asthma is when the airway occasionaly constricts and is usually triggered by an enviornmental thing/condition/event/whatever, hence: "asthma attack". The point being that asthma "goes away" in that the airway is not constantly restricted, while COPD is always restricted and is probobly going to stay that way.

This is what im coming up with on minimal research, as this could have been easily googled; but I'm bored so whatever. So if any of this is inaccurate please correct me.

So the treatment for COPD is not completely different from that of asthma am I wrong? Both need bronchodilator and corticosteriods right?
