I noticed no one answered so i thought i would throw in my two cents...
Your chances aren't very likly to get prego. But for your safety, you shouls test just to be sure. I believe your supposed to wait two weeks after getting the shot, right?

I believe what my wife mentioned, was that if you got pregnant and was on the shot, you body would abort the baby. I'm not 100% on the exact quote she said (she is not home at the moment). But she said that the shot is instantaneous.

hi there i have only just found this forum but i can tell you what my doctor told me ;)
i used to have the depo provera injections and he said that if you start the injection when you are starting your period (i had mine the day i came on) that no other protection was needed. if it was any other time i think he said to wait a week or use condoms.

i found this, it may put your mind at ease
    Schedule

A typical depo provera schedule consists of one dose four times a year. Your doctor will first make all the necessary physical examinations and then give you the first intramuscular injection during the first seven days of your period. One dose of this contraceptive injection will be enough to prevent pregnancy for approximately 12 weeks.

Many women take their next dose in around 11 weeks to avoid the last moment tension and stay protected. If due to any circumstance you do miss a shot or delay till the 13th week, it is advisable to use secondary birth control methods, like a condom or a diaphragm, until you get your next shot. During this time, it is also important for you to check for pregnancy, as receiving depo provera while pregnant may cause premature birth.

    Effectiveness

Contraception using depo provera injection has been found to be more effective than any other kinds of birth control. It is 97% to 99.7% effective in preventing birth, though it cannot protect you from STDs, like herpes or gonorrhoea.

The affect of the hormone starts as soon as you take an injection and if you are regular in your menstrual cycle, the chances of getting pregnant are very rare. Some drugs, such as those taken for Cushing’s syndrome, may lessen the effects of this contraceptive. Do tell your doctor about all the medications you are taking and use a secondary contraception if advised.

but if you are worried take a test, at least you will know ;)

according to planned parenthood's information paper you have a 3% chance of pregnancy per encounter.

They should do a pregnancy test every three months anyway, but I don't think you'll have to worry.

I will say this also in behalf of my wife (who is dictating this to me).
She was on the depo shot for 8 years. They took me off of it last month b/c I was over the limit for it to be in my system before it starts to effect on your bones. They switched me to the "depo in the pill". Aygestin.

So be careful on how long you stay on it. Also if you want kids, it sometimes takes up to two years for it all to out of your system.

I Know Some Girlsfriends Of Mine Who Have Been Trying 4 Years After Stopping The Shot And Still Havent Gotten Pregnant, One Thing Is When Your Talking About Hormones, Your Body Is Very Sesitive To Them And Anything Can Happen.

I Got Pregnant On The Depo Shot, But A Week Later I Miscarried I Was Only 4 Weeks, The Depo Provented It From Developing, Which Is What It Is Known To Do!

    Its very possible.

you should suck it up and take a pregnancy test on the off-chance that you are.

    however its unlikely

according to the doctor I see at the free clinic, you should be fine (or at normal risk for pregnancy) meaning 99.5% chance of not being pregnant.
