MOST under-rated metal musicians (real, not slipknot crap)

I know a lot of people on these forums are into 'the classics'. But for those of you who have a good understanding of this type of music, I just want to know who you think are the most under-rated metal musicians..

in my opinion, I'd have to say Obituary, Death, and Kreator

 

I can really get into Meshuggah, their drummer blows me away.... polyrhythms galore!

I think those bands aren't underrated, bands like Death aren't easy listenable for people who don't like death metal (like me). People who do feel attracted to that kind of music, do see the genius of it. I see it, but I just don't like the music.

 

I know what your saying man, but I guess, to make it clearer, I mean amoung the people that take a liking to this genre of music.

I use to love Cradle of filth. The sheer eloquence of Dani's lyrics *sigh* if only they weren't so satanic.

Cradle is awesome and Dani is beautifull and lyrics are so rich, but they are definitely NOT UNDERRATED

 

The Gathering might be a bit under-rated. I just love "The Mandylion" (sp?)

 

the gathering are awesome but not metal by any extreme of the imagination

 

Mastodon is getting more name, at least here in the Netherlands. Great metal.
