For those of you who are muslim, do you know what the official fatwa is regarding marijuana? I have looked and looked but I see no hadiths and nothing in the Quran specifically addressing marijuana, yet I do see and know that alcohol is haram.

My husband is from Egypt and he insists that alcohol is haram because it goes into your bloodstream but that marijuana is on the same level as cigarette smoking...........I forget the term but it's basically disliked but not outright haram.

I would think that since marijuana was around during the time of Mohammed, pbuh, that it would have been addressed just as bluntly (pardon the pun ;) ) as alcohol was.

    Any thoughts?

    hi bostonbud..
Islam is not a matter of Fatwah... the main rule of what is forbidden in Islam and what is not is to define the nature of the thing or situation concerned... the main rule nothing is forbidden (haram) as long as it causes no harm, in the matter of health or other aspects of getting damaged to you or cause damage to others..
do you think that marijuana is any harm? you are your own judge and Allah know what you choose... as all wants the best for you he orders you to do the right choice for your own self..
