Why is the question especially just for them? Why limit who can respond?

Yes, I'm aware of that. Who are you to call me stupid? Completely unnecessary.

Have you changed your diet since becoming pregnant or are you taking prenatal vitamins? Constipation is more common in pregnancy but sometimes diet changes people make can cause loose stool. Also drinking more water can cause it until your body gets used to it.

Have you spoken to a midwife? (or doctor, I'm not sure who you are seeing, I knew you had a midwife with your last pregnancy)

    What Advaya said...^^

Also, I've heard of pregnancies causing food sensitivities to become more pronounced. If you have a hard time losing weight, digestive/stool problems (lots of diarrhea or constipating), reflux, exczema, etc you might have a food issue.

I usually refer to food issues, because almost everything happening in your body has been effected by what you eat, in one way or another. If you've not done anything hugely different in your diet, water intake, etc, I'd cut out all dairy (including caseinate and whey proteins in processed foods) and gluten for a month. After the month, add something back in and see if there is any difference in the week following the exposure (don't just start eating lots of gluten/dairy right away. Make sure to only allow one exposure so you can better track your reaction).

But anyway, congratulations! I never congratulated you! Rest up, drink plenty of water, exercise a lot. Take belly-dancing! It's so great for your hips and back, strenghtening those muscles that you don't really focus on in other exercise forms. It's great for natural labour! And most of all, BE HAPPY! :D I'm so excited for you! OR is a good state for natural birth. :)

well i wish hubby would let me have a midwife again but because i miscarried last time hes so adamate(sp?) that i have an obgyn that i just gave in and said fine.
anyways , i havent changed my diet at all but i did start taking the prenatels again as soon as i found out and come to think of it thats when the diarrhea first started, so i dunno if that may be it...im not sure
i will try your suggestion with the dairy and gluten and let you know ho it goes

Believe it or not, sometimes "morning sickness" takes the form of diarrhea. It is usually due to increased hormones, especially progesterone levels (YAY! Progesterone is what makes a pregnancy "sticky").

Do you get crampy, too, or just loose stools? Is it totally watery, or just soft and frequent? Do you feel weak afterwards, or just fine if somewhat inconvenienced?

It usually goes away by the end of the first trimester, like morning sickness. Keep hydrated! Drink lots of water, and clear Gatorade to replace lost electrolytes.

If you feel weak, dizzy, crampy, clammy, have hot or cold flashes, or just feel really lousy, see your doctor who may want to run a stool sample to make sure it's not a virus or parasites.

Oh you poor thing, I hope you can work out what it is. Congrats on your baby though, hope all goes well. As I have never had any problems during my pregnancy I can't really give any advice though.

Sweetdreadlover, tell your husband that miscarriage is common. Only about 1/4-1/3 of pregnancies reach term. Miscarriage is your body's way of saying "You know what, this isn't going to work".

Frankly, having an OB/GYN isn't going to help keep a pregnancy. A midwife would prescribe the same pills as an MD (progesterone, IIRC). And during delivery, a midwife is more likely to listen to what YOU want and help you feel more confident in your body.

I'd research with hubby about midwifery and how it differs and is the same as an OB practice. He might come around. :) Remember, it is YOUR labour. :)

Yeah I was going to mention that as well. If you want a midwife, you need a midwife. You deserve the birth you want. There are inevitable misscarriages, a OB can't stop it, a midwife can't. Nothing can. You are most definitely not high risk from a previous miscarriage. You worked hard for this, you deserve the best birth possible, your baby deserves the best birth possible!

Well, maybe once you pass the first trimester and he sees everything is going well, you can gently persuade him to change his mind!

You really deserve an empowering, powerful, strong birth.

don't give up. Find a doc and midwife who will work in tandem.
    or at LEAST a doula.

as for the stools, did you get the same thing pre period, ever? if so Brighid's on the money.

because a lot of people will post "I don't know" or attack her diet...or other pointless responses.
Brigid is our resident midwife. Hippiefreek and SDL resonate well with each other and earthy has a few kids herself.

There's no limitation on the answer, more like a special request for them.
