I have been thinking of this for over a year, and i am almost sure i am making the right choice, but before i do this i would like to get as many different oppinions as possible, i am nervous, i have been over everything in my head many times, it doesnt matter if your advice is negative on my part, because if i am making a mistkae i would rather know in advance! been with my guy for 5 years next month, everything is going great, we live together, pay halves on all bills, i was watching him sleep one morning and it just hit me...."i love you so much right now, and i want to marry you"...i know, sounds corny, is that how it happens for a guy? basically, as i said, next month is our anniversary, and for the last year i have been seriously thinking about asking him to marry me, i have put a lot of thought into this and i know there are no guarentees, i know i will have to deal with it if he says no. basically, the plan is, on the day we are both working, i am planning on picking him up after work, and driving to the place where we had our first date (a place we still go to to this day) and when the time is right, telling him how happy he makes me, that i love him very much and that it would make me the happiest girl in the world if he was my husband. would i be taking his moment away if i did this? or does it not matter so much these days?
I think that is so sweet, but I don't know what type of guy he is. I don't think my fiancee would have been too happy if I was the one who proposed, but I know a lot of guys who would be. Can you just coyly and playfully say 'I wanna be your wife sooooo bad' and see what he does?

I think you should tell him how you really feel and how much you love him but i agree with bella desordre about knowing what type of guy he is because some guys hate it when the girl asks. And saying that you want to be his wife is a good idea because then you will see how he really feels. Goodluck. hope everything works out for you.
Go for it! I think if you love each other enough, it shouldn't matter who proposes. I also totally support messing with traditional gender roles. Propose the hell out of him!
as of this point of the post, i still thought you were thinking of killing him in his sleep... as for proposing, you should try to get an idea of what he's into, but for me i think it would be really hot if my girlfriend (ha!) proposed to me
