you mean learning by yourself? that is how i got all my knowledge of any value. school only fucked up my perception of the world, while reading books on my own and learning in any ways (like for example, from internet) educated me a huge lot.

I don't get why so many people claim not to be hippies, yet they're a regular member of these forums?

And what's wrong with being a drop-out? That's his decision and his responsibility. I'm a drop-out too... I dropped out of university 13 years ago and I haven't looked back.

He means he dropped out of high school. Dropping out of college is a bit different. And so what if he's not a "hippie"? A hippie is just a label anyway, (I'm younger than you and I realize that) and if you refuse to communicate with anyone who disagrees with or differs from you, how the hell do you suppose you'll grow as a person?

Relax. I don't take any issue with him not being a hippie, okay... That's his business. It is just an interesting observation that some people who are not hippies are members of the "hip forums", subsidiary of the "hippyland" site. What brought non-hippies to these boards? It's a free world, and they're welcome of course... just wondering.

I find it rather puzzling that you do mind what I said, yet you don't mind that Ten Cent Arcade is calling someone names just because that person dropped out of school, university, whatever (incidentally which, again, is his choice).

 

what king of MOVEMENT are you talking about? I understand autodidactism as learning by yourself and this "method" has been aroud since first caveman took a stick to scratch his back. Or at least since the first book came out

 

I meant it started in the 60s and grew during the 70s AFTER compulsory education came out.
