I'm a self sufficient 16 year old, female, seeking a teen friendly commune. I am sick to my stomach of urban life and I long for something simpler, something pure. I admit I'm not the most intelligent person you'll meet but I am a hard worker and responsible being. I need this.

If you know any communes in Canada, please let me know.

You can go to the intentional communities website: http://www.ic.org/
and do a search in their communities directory to find a list of all the communities in Canada:

    http://directory.ic.org/records/?action=search

My search revealed about 80 communities in Canada. You'll have to research them to find the one that is best for you.

I refined my search further and found that there are 20 communities in Canada that are currently established, accept visitors, and who have 20+ members.

biggest drawback you will have is being 16........hard for a commune to set itself up to legal implications accepting one who is not age of majority....i know that in the past a lot of young teens have lived on communes ...age wasn't so much a factor ..but with todays laws and police looking at anyone who is an adult that lives with underage teens as a potential pedophile .best way is for you and similar aged teens to start your own or wait a few years.......i know ..i work marginally around teens ......i'm adminstrative and rarely have close contact with them, but every few years i have to get a vunerable sector screening clearance ....what a hassle ....so far i think the only thing i haven't had to fill out or tell them is the color of my underwear ...

I'm not sure that would be an insurmountable problem. A search of the Intentional Communities directory shows there are 21 communities in Canada with 10+ child members. Presumably that would include teens who live there without their parents, although I have no way of verifying that.

The legal age of sexual consent and to simply move out in Canada is 16, so there would be no legal problems to my knowledge. No one is going to stop me from leaving home so it's not like they'll be calling the police to come find me or anything.

Man, you poor kid... you sounded like me 3 years ago. And I tried that site, and it didn't help me at all... but don't get discouraged! All I can say is finish highschool and then see if you're still wantin' to find a commune. Then... I dunno, get back to me, and I'll tell you what the hell I did.
