OK, here's my story. I've always wanted dreads, but the challenge here is that I have no hair on my head, lol. Actually I have a Goat tee that's now about 5 inches or so and I want to dread it. But, I've haven't seen anyone do it or reference on how to.

    1. Thing is that I'm paraniod that I'll do it wrong and have to cut my goat tee that I've been growing for over a year.

    2. What would be the best way to do this in my situation. Should be fairly easy I hope, considering I will only have to maybe do 2.

    2. Can't make my mind up to do just one dread or two. I'd like two, but do I have enough hair?

You can see my goat tee in its current state from my myspace page:

Let me know whaat you all think.

    Thx!

if i were you, i would braid it first and see if you can live with that before you knot it up. if you like it, then go for it. and you can always comb it out during the first couple months if you don't like it. i think it would look awesome

Good idea! I have been braiding it into one braid for the past couple of months and I love it. But, I think I may go for the two dreads. Kinda like Johnny depth in Pirate of the Carribean, just shorter. Thats about the only thing I could reference cause I haven't really seen to many beard pics.

Anybody got any good ideas on shampoos I may be able to buy locally at a regular store? Or am I really gonna need to order it or possibly go to a salon and get something?

And what kinda comb could I use? Could it be just a fine tooth comb? I was even considering using like a flea comb. I dunno, just trying to save some time and money.

    THX for all your help.

not sure about shampoos you can get from a store. a salon might have some. and flea combs work great. pretty much any metal-toothed comb will work.

Kool, Kool! I will definately post some pix. I am gonna unbraid my goat tee to let it get fuller/fluffy, then I'm gonna be looking around town for some shampoo. I am anxious to get started, so if all goes well I'll prolly be doing it this weekend.

OK, so I just dreaded my beard. I will be posting some pix a little later today or tomorrow.

I was wondering, Do you really need to leave rubber bands in? And for how long if so. Or does it really not matter? I'd rather not use them at all.

They feel pretty tight except the ends have those 4 or 5 hairs that wouldn't back comb. I started rolling them in the palm of my hands and that seems to help a little.

Thanks for all your support! I'm really hoping they will dread up nice.

You guys have any maintanance suggestions?
I am planning on Palm rolling them pretty much everyday, all day, any chance I can get.

    Thanks again everyone!

Oh and I took out the rubberbands. I'd rather leave them out.
