    well.. didactic is a word i came across while studying the plays of bertolt brech.. his plays were intened to teach and so it was all about the breaking of the 4th wall of theatre. so i guess that didactism is the process of teaching so auto didactism would be (i guess) teaching youself through exprience and learning through mistakes. but dont quote me on that i could be horrendously wrong

    aahh man i learn about Brecht in my Diploma. Man that guy revolutionised theatre. i hated him at first then we studied and performed Mother Courage and her Children and by the end of that i loved him! :)...sorry off topic i know :S
