yeah, things are cool here now... for us, the worst of the storm was the tail end of it. the wind was bad, but not really destructive. the flooding did the most damage. several major highways are still underwater. parts of the interstate and other roads collapsed due to sinkholes. Downtown, where the Hillsborough River meets Tampa Bay, the storm surge and the rain turned some of the tall buildings into islands. I mean, Tampa is already at sea level, so essentially a lot of the city became one with the ocean. I am very lucky to be on high ground, and that i did not lose power. most people in this area did not fare as well. i'm glad to see that people here care. i can always count on the loving hipforum folk everyone else make it ok?
You wouldn't say that if you'd been in Port Charlotte or Punta Gorda when Charley hit. I'd of rather been in a gunfight.
