The weather was great today, I took a long needed vacation day from work. I had several errands to run and did everyone of them without shoes. My first stop was to get the oil changed in my car, The service writer noticed I was barefoot when she took my keys, she politely asked if I needed to get my shoes out of the car before she took keys, I replied that I was comfortable without shoes and proceeded to the waiting area until my car was done, I then went to a full service car wash, the place was very busy, but no comments from other customers or staff. My next stop was a mattress store to check out new mattress prices. I was the only customer in the store. I started to look around , the saleswoman was very helpful and commented that she was not a "shoe person" either, and at that point I noticed that she was also barefoot, I am not sure if she had her shoes off when I entered the store or if I influenced her to take off her shoes when she saw that I was barefoot. I then went to get my hair cut, the salon was not very busy either, the only comment was from my stylist as she put the cape around me was "I see we are comfy today" as she smiled and looked at my bare feet. My next stop was a small local restuarant for lunch, I was not sure about this stop and thought about slipping on my shoes, but instead I put a pair of flip flops I had in the car in my bag if I needed them. The place was pretty busy and I am positive that my waitress and other staff noticed that I was barefoot but said nothing and the service was great. However there were times at lunch I felt uncomfortable about being in a restuarant without shoes but resisted the urge to put on my flip flops. My next stop was a local dollar store to pick up a few things we needed at the office, the store was not very busy, the manager / cashier noticed I was barefoot but her only comment was to be carefull in the store , as sometimes things get dropped on the floor and not picked up. My next stop was a cell phone store, I entered the store when the saleswoman stated "YOU NEED TO HAVE SHOES IN HERE" in a stern voice. I started to turn around to respond to her comment, when she started to smile and I looked down and noticed that she was in her stocking feet. We talked for several minutes while I was waiting for my new phone to be activate, Since I spend a lot of my time at work with my shoes off, but unlike her I rarely see clients. She said that she spends a lot of her time witout shoes and most of the comments from customers are positive or humerous. She said that other sales associates enjoy hiding her shoes and watching her look for them when the manager drops by the store or when she needs them to leave the business. My next stop was going to be Walmart, I have been to Walmart a few times before without shoes, but have also been denied entry before for not wearing shoes, well today was one of those days when the greeter decided that I needed shoes to spend money, so I decided that I did not need the items that bad, so I left. Since I had a few minutes extra since I didn't get in Walmart I stopped at coffee shop, had a cup of coffee and read the paper without shoes and again the staff noticed but had no negative comments. So it was a very relaxing vacation day.
Sounds like you had a great time, keep up the barefooting. Tell me, from the looks of your user name it appears like you live in Ohio, if so what part? I'm curious as I lived in both Akron and Cleveland areas for a number of years.
wow, bet u had a great time. I was trying to explain to my partner today all the sensations that thier missing by wearing shoes. Just the other day I stopped by my partners works before closing and a woman came in in her bare feet and i was just so happy to see that. My partner looked at her like she was nuts, but i was beeming.
