well, my brother and i were disussing different things and he asked "how does buying McDonalds and Burger King and all that stuff cause famine, and poverty and stuff?" and well, i didn't have an answer. I have spent alot of time reading about anti-capitalism and still don't get the whole picture, but i'm working on it. i havn't spent alot of time learning about globalization but i am going to start looking into it. well anyway, an answer would be great. thanks a bunch.
If McDonalds serves "Billions a Day" and their dumpsters are still full with extra food, than they should be able to feed everyone
Why do you need to read...you know they use styrofoam containers, and preprocessed beef and everything else...why can't you provide better fare in your own home for less...?
Reading increases articulation abilities... especially when you gain the facts to back up your ideas.
for those of you who aren't readers fortunately there's a film that you can watch: I would aslo recommend watching some of that director's other great films: A Scanner Darkley (2006) based on Philip K. Dick's novel of the same name Waking Life (2001) Dazed & Confused (1993) As well as Schlosser's second book, Reefer Madness (2003)
Believe it or not when my eighth grade class was about to graduate and go on to high school, we were all ushered into the multipurpose room, to view the original "reefer madness" film. Funny thing was in the rural area I lived in it was the first mention of Mary Jane we had ever heard, and the hippy and drug movement wasn't all that big in our area, but that film really got us interested in finding out all about it.
Damn! I can't imagine what was going through those teachers' minds when they decided to show that film to kids. Either: "This will be a great joke!" or "Let's scare the shit out of them with this film that tells them that if they smoke weed then they'll go permanently insane and possibly chop up their family with an axe & rape people so maybe they won't touch it." (the original intention for the film I'm sure). I just don't understand it!!! Now, 80 years after it was made, we know that every "fact" in the film is not true thanks to worldwide gov't and medical research. And the propaganda of today is sooooo much more sophisticated that even if the kids believed the "facts" they presented in Reefer Madness they would probably burst into a nice heavy gut laugh at the attempt to scare them with 1930's technology. What an anomaly! I remember my anti-drug indoctrination as being shown cartoons with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and other such characters teaching you how to spot signs of drug usage in your family and friends and how it's a good thing to rat them out. And of course there was the ever so successful D.A.R.E. nonsense. I thought Reefer Madness was just a joke among potheads in the know and historians, but the fact that they still show it to kids fires up my decriminalization aspirations! I’m starting a NORML chapter in my small ass city today! HAHA! Really now, let’s counter this by spreading the pro-weed U.S. gov’t propaganda film Hemp For Victory!
