K, so i dont know how much help i'm going to get since most people on here are too young to even go to bars, as well i'm a bartender myself so i've seen plenty of bars in my day and have plenty of ideas BUT..i'm also open to suggestions, ideas i have not thought of, cool new features people have seen etc. With all this said, we've recently renovated our house, adding a large party room where we will be building a very nice, USEFULL bar, i'm not talking about those stupid bars that come in pre-built houses that have no function nor, useability, i'm talking pouring drinks on a nightly basis Criteria: No $ Limit No Materials are out of reach No electrical wiring/lighting is out of our hands there is about 6-8 feet out from the wall, and about 8-10 from left to right I have to work with, all suggestions are welcomed THE BAR IS GOING TO BE IN THE CORNER BY THE WINDOW THE PICS ARE FOCUSED ON pics:
um, wood flooring? I would suggest pool table, but yer posted dimensions dont allow fer that. that being said.......you gotta get pinball machine.
haha everything else is set, and yes it's going to be hardwood all around already the oposite side has a large couch and 2 lazy boys + our 60" Sony is on order and waiting for the room to be done all i'm concerned about is the bar, the rest of the room is pretty much set in stone
it's going to be like a pub/club style bar either walk up or stools or some sort, a actuall "bar" then like rows of liquor behind + a sink and a mini fridge + Ice maker
I just dont understand what kinda help you are asking for, you seem to know what you want. Definitely stools. stools stow under the counter so its still a walkup if thats appropriate
man back at school there were 72 bars downtown here are some links with pics and descriptions to my fave ones first off here is a bar called The Loft, its an upstairs loft syle bar with a dance floor and 3 bars http://www.theloftathens.com/pics.html This next bar is more of a contemporary styling with the metals and such but always has a good crowd, and alot of live rappers play here http://www.theritzathens.com/tour.htm there are also alot of other bars but its hard to find pictures and stuff. I would def recommend having a wood wet bar with the liped wood at the edge to prevent spills and shit. Also i would recomend alot of glass and mirrors and shit for behind the bottles. and a sound system is a must.
If you're going to be using it often, I'd recommend using sealant on the wood so it won't absorb as much liquid. Keep it well ventilated so no smells can resonate, make sure there's running water nearby, and have a good assortment of shot glasses and mugs, drinking out of the same cup gets boring after a while. A dimmer switch is a must, a good sound system would be nice, a PlayStation 1 works wonders with a great set of speakers. If you can find one with the female AV inputs on the back for male-to-male connections with the speakers it's as fine a machine as you can get. They run on eBay for like 40 bucks if you find the right model (I believe it's the first model) and it works like a $3000 sound system. But other than that just make it your own. The styling, the drinks that you serve, the amount of liquor the bar can contain and things like that should all be decided by you, it is your bar after all, and you know better than us how many people are going to be there to serve/be served. I'd say to include a dart board and some pickled shit in jars for that rustic pub feeling, and it couldn't hurt to have a lot of wall hangings, like a Captain Morgan mirror. I know in the US that Staples sells digital picture frames, which I'd love to have in my bar a home. That way you can switch pictures at the touch of a button and you can get endless images off the net. No matter what way you do it I'm sure it'll be great, home bars rock. Cheers and good luck.
personally i think bars are those things best kept you go to, not live in. ^ that was an idea, because im pretty sure youre convinced you need one, im just saying if it were up to me, id make better use of the room, do something in it you cant find almost everywhere.... *DRUM ROLL* *END DRUMROLL*
good call mirror one of the walls so it looks bigger jukebox if you can swing it nice selection of your music for anyone to choose from
also alot of the bars ive gone to have a theme, like make it look irish or english if you want it to be a pub. there was also this bar ive been to a shit ton of times and its called buddha bar, and its like asian themed and shit its pretty badass
