Will there still be hippies 30+ years from now?

Will the love, music, mindset, and the psychedelics remain?
Or will the comformative youth of today become the cold oppression of tomorrow?
I hope not.

hmm... i think there will be nu-hippies or something of that sort that will carry on the ideals. i'd classify myself as a nu-hippie as i believe in peace, love, unity, and freedom!

 

the hippie ideas and drug use will prevail. the term 'hippy' will pry die, as will things like tie-dye and vw's.

 

i dont really see how nu hippies can even be hippies...surely the emergence of hippies was due to the political evvents happening during the 60s and 70s (vietnam, kent state and all that)...how can someone who wasnt there be one? x x x

though events they experienced influenced them to be hippies, i think nu hippies still can follow their beliefs and learn from the experiences of those before them.
then again, what makes someone a hippie?

 

well first of all, the hippies will be around forever...and yes, while there are many who join for a few weeks and then drift off, there are lots of us who have followed the lifestyle for many years, and will continue to as long as the wonderful old dead-heads...
and if you need any proof, take yourself to a festival!
Hippies will be around as long as there's love to spread around!

 

i think there already is nu-hippies or whatever. the only real hippies around today are part of the older generation. any kids today are nu hippies because they aren't the same as they used to be, but still have many similar beliefs

 

As soon as 1 person takes a mind opening drug than the hippie culture of free love and freedom will continue

 

I don't think many hippies will be around in 30 years, just people that have branched off from them. I think pot and LSD are still a hippie-maker. I myself am very interested in the hippy era. I hope it lives on and the music too, the music was good!

The drugs that make people do violent things don't include the natural stuff like peyote, weed, shrooms, etc...

Stuff like PCP, Cocaine, alcohol, and other manmade drugs WILL make you violent, etc...

If you've never done either kind than you might want to try, it'll open your mind about natural things

 

Sadly, there will always be hippies.

 

you're going to find that a "vast majority" of people out there will disagree with you. just read through these forums. maybe you just haven't had a life changing experience... besides, if the guy on court tv did that, then he was most likely mentally unstable beforehand.

 

i hope true hippies dont come back...we all know what happened in the 60's. we need to emphasize peace, love and unity, while still retaining some idea of what needs to be done to make a society work, aka responsibility, which hippies had none of. what doesnt work is sitting around dancing and fucking and tripping and talking about how the world will be so much better when freeloaders rule the world.

no matter what day and age "hippies" will always be around not because its a fad or nething like that its just cause a hippie, (i think) is peace love unity and respect for everything and everyone.

 

i KNOW there will be, there has been in some form or another forever. in history we are looking at the revolution, they were a form of hippie, then there was Jerry kind of guys... now we are transitioning into angry hippies like Rage Against The Machine.

 

there will be something better. our minds are growing, learning, changing consistently. for new hippies, look back at what old hippies did wrong, and make it right.

 

A hippie is a person who has expanded their mind so large that they see the real picture.
