Hey guys, Im in my last year of highschool in Perth and its coming to a time where Im gonna have to decide what to do next year. Ive narrowed it down to Fine Art, Architecture and possibly Political Science, but almost definitely one of the first two. Now Im probably going to do Fine Art, but whatever I study Id really like to move to Melbourne, noot that theres anything wrong with WA, Im just in need for a culture change and Ive lived in Melbourne before and I go there to visit Friends and family Annually and whenever I'm there it "Just feels right". Ive been looking at a few of the Universities over there and the main ones Ive been looking at are RMIT, Monash and the University of Melbourne. Which of these Unis would have the best course for Fine Art? Has anybody completed or is doing a Fine Arts course at the moment? Id love to hear from anyone and everyone Peace, thanks in advance
hey there lol i'm the opposite to you, i'm thinking about moving to perth when i finish my course. But about the universities i wouldn't recommend rmit. i go there and i'm not really sure they have a good fine arts course or even a fine arts course for that matter. Rmit made a few financial mistakes a few years back and they are quite noticeably suffering from them, slow admin services, poor rooms/lack of up-to-date facilities etc. But in saying that i guess the only way to fond out is to contact the uni's you are interested in and do some research on their courses. Goodluck!!! peace
Im doing Fine Arts at the Sydney Uni (Sydney Collage of the Arts) Its pretty good. you can major in whatever area you want (Print, Painting, Film, Photomedia, Sculpture, Glass, Jewelry etc) There are lots of good art collages around sydney. Like Cofa and the national arts school. I could tell you more about the SCA if your interested...just hit me up ( lilac_haze7@hotmail.com )
Don't limit yourself to one area. Do a double degree [say a Bachelor of Creative Arts and a Bachelor of Arts]. That way you are exposed to a whole lot more, and its easier to change focus if you need to.
Nice idea!! Fine arts is simply like a painting and drawing and not a subject studied by an academic scholar. There are many schools and colleges in Melbourne that offers fine arts classes. Your choice is so good because RMIT, Monash and the University of Melbourne are one of the best university/colleges in Melbourne.
