a buddy of mine told me that thc only lasts for 7 seconds. If this is true then what is the point of hot boxing?
chemicals don't die. but under exposure to proper conditions they can change structurally. basically theres no point in holding in your smoke more than a couple seconds because the vast bulk of it is absorbed then. but in terms of secondhand smoke, THC doesnt miraculously "die" and stop working. hotboxing (around here we call it "baking out") isn't particularly practical, however, as the amount of THC you inhale from the surrounding smoke isnt very significant. its most appropriate in VERY small areas, like a small car, and most appropriate when smoking something like a big joint or a blunt. not enough second hand smoke comes off of bowls to have any significant effect. as much as i enjoy baking out a small car with a blunt on occasion, i must say that unfortunately the most of the added effect is not just from getting higher by being surrounded by more smoke for a long period of time and from smoking large quantities of marijuana; you are literally choking yourself slowly by decreasing the amount of fresh air available for you to breath. when you break the bake and open up the doors and step out into the fresh air, you tend to swoon just a little from the rush of fresh oxygen and the lack of stale smoke and stagnant air, and the lower temperature. even in the middle of summer, if you smoke a blunt in a parked car with the windows up and the air and fans off, then you step out at the end, you'll feel like you stepped into an air conditioned house. i like it on rare occasions, but i dont think i could stand up to it these days. but it can be fun..... but yeah, the THC doesnt just "die." and if done right you DO get more THC, but not a TON more. and its not just added THC that affects the buzz, its lack of oxygen, too.
