As long as I live and have a choice I will not as you say relax, stop complaining, a go with the flow! We have a choice and we have a voice, it is the lack of choosing to express our opinion and take action that has landed us in the mess we are in. We can not count on others to hold our interests at heart, especially in matters of economics.

Do you actually believe that the few elite who run the country (mostly foreign interests) are grateful for all that mother earth provides? Doubtful, they just continue to rape and pillage and ask the devil for more license to continue. I believe they derive their power from that which is dark and evil. Something that is unfortunately ingrained in all of us. It is the choice, the free will that the light and love provided by god to us, that allows us to work towards good and just causes. Material wealth and a higher standard of living at the expense of others is IMHO not worth working towards. Id rather live on a farm and produce my own wealth at the expense of no one rather than live in some endless urban wasteland with a false sense of reality as to how we achieved this condition. Sure our forebearers worked hard and sacrificed, as sacrifice is a part of life, but we have the intelligence and will power to make conditions for all living things better rather than supporting the greed of a limited few at the expense of the greater good to the ultimate detriment of our own ecosphere and livelihoods.

In reality I have to admit that I'm grateful everyday for the fact that I was born in this country, but the more I find out about how we maintain our standard of living, the more shameful I feel about those methods. We all need to just meet somewhere in the middle, unfortunately the animal instinct for survival we all have seems to preclude any real civility when it comes down to the race to live and thrive in what is honestly a challenging environment no matter what your country of origin.

    Lots of love,

    namaste

If it was only the instict to survive...., but profit is the hugest motivator these days pitting everyone against the other so that a few come out first as the big winners. Power, fame, fortune and glory are the gods today.

Some of that had some truth, people do need to stop crying over things they don't have and instead focus on what they do have. I learned that lesson and others should too.

Two thirds unhappy with the Bush Regime's reign (so far) is a powerful majority. Does anyone else wonder at the fact that we are all too afraid to do anything about it? I have my thoughts, but I will refrain from airing them out in a public forum, you know, just in case someone is listening.
Here's a curiosity that I have noticed that certainly does not encourage the joining together of groups that just may well have some clout in numbers ~ our neighborhoods are squares with all of us facing out, rather than circular communities inviting us to face in to one another. Our classrooms foster the same sense of isolation also, have you noticed?
How can we be strong together when we have been raised as islands, having never learned to use the tools for coming together?
Just more questions... yet I can't help but feel that they needed to be asked.

Will you hear when the lion within you roars?

dissagreeing with our government is not complaining. we need to question athority and keep our government in check cause if we didnt the government would know we would be more easily manipulated and would exploit our obliviousness.

    14 signs of fascism

1.) Powerful and Continuing Nationalism: Fascist regimes tend to make constant use of patriotic mottos, slogans, symbols, songs, and other paraphernalia. Flags are seen everywhere, as are flag symbols on clothing and in public displays

2.) Disdain for the Recognition of Human Rights: Because of fear of enemies and the need for security, the people in fascist regimes are persuaded that human rights can be ignored in certain cases because of "need." The people tend to look the other way or even approve of torture, summary executions, assassinations, long incarcerations of prisoners, etc.

3.) Identification of Enemies/Scapegoats as a Unifying Cause: The people are rallied into a unifying patriotic frenzy over the need to eliminate a perceived common threat or foe: racial, ethnic or religious minorities; liberals; communists; socialists, terrorists, etc

4.) Supremacy of the Military: Even when there are widespread domestic problems, the military is given a disproportionate amount of government funding, and the domestic agenda is neglected. Soldiers and military service are glamorized.

5.) Rampant Sexism: The governments of fascist nations tend to be almost exclusively male-dominated. Under fascist regimes, traditional gender roles are made more rigid. Opposition to abortion is high, as is homophobia and anti-gay legislation and national policy.

6.) Controlled Mass Media: Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

7.) Obsession with National Security: Fear is used as a motivational tool by the government over the masses

8.) Religion and Government are Intertwined: Governments in fascist nations tend to use the most common religion in the nation as a tool to manipulate public opinion. Religious rhetoric and terminology is common from government leaders, even when the major tenets of the religion are diametrically opposed to the government's policies or actions

9.) Corporate Power is Protected:The industrial and business aristocracy of a fascist nation often are the ones who put the government leaders into power, creating a mutually beneficial business/government relationship and power elite.

10.) Labor Power is Suppressed:Because the organizing power of labor is the only real threat to a fascist government, labor unions are either eliminated entirely, or are severely suppressed.

11.) Disdain for Intellectuals and the Arts: Fascist nations tend to promote and tolerate open hostility to higher education, and academia. It is not uncommon for professors and other academics to be censored or even arrested. Free expression in the arts is openly attacked, and governments often refuse to fund the arts.

12.) Obsession with Crime and Punishment: Under fascist regimes, the police are given almost limitless power to enforce laws. The people are often willing to overlook police abuses and even forego civil liberties in the name of patriotism. There is often a national police force with virtually unlimited power in fascist nations

13.) Rampant Cronyism and Corruption: Fascist regimes almost always are governed by groups of friends and associates who appoint each other to government positions and use governmental power and authority to protect their friends from accountability. It is not uncommon in fascist regimes for national resources and even treasures to be appropriated or even outright stolen by government leaders

    14. Fraudulent Elections: Sometimes elections in fascist nations are a complete sham. Other times elections are manipulated by smear campaigns against or even assassination of opposition candidates, use of legislation to control voting numbers or political district boundaries, and manipulation of the media. Fascist nations also typically use their judiciaries to manipulate or control elections.

that letter is a very basic propaganda technique and has no logic behind it. why only compare us to underdeveloped nations. why dont we compare ourselves to other developed nations that have lower crime rates lower unemployment rates higher education rates with bigger middle classes and less corrupted government.

lets just praise all the luxuries we have (that probably half the rest of the world also has) compare ourselves to africa cause it could be worse, and thats why we should let the government walk on us is basically what that letter is saying. anyone with half a brain would see through it.

"relax and go with the flow, shit is fucked up and it always will be, just live with it and stop complaining" -tis exactly how the powers that be want you to think

the letter says 69% of people are unhappy with the presidents performance, then asks what were unhappy about and goes on to list all of our wonderfull luxuries. let me ask you this

did george bush provide our running water?
did gb provide heating and ac?
did gb provide our police force?
    did gb provide our homes?
did gb provide our cell phones?

these things have all been established in our society for quite a while and have nothing to do with the president. there is absolutly no logic in that letter and if you would have turned it in as a college essay you would get a big fat F-.

jay lenos a fuckin doosh you might as well go read some ann coulter books.

man in box say it, man in box know truth.

maybe people are complaining because there's a growing awareness (the main factor being the internet) of how our comfortable lives came to be - that is, the oppression of poorer countries. Invading them, and in the process killing thousands, possibly millions of innocent people to gain assets which guarantee economic superiority : freedom by any other name. If you can accept that for the sake of material comfort, you're either blind or in denial.

This is the problem of our generation : our economy - our hyper-comfortable way of life - it is so unnecessarily important to us that anything it threatens we're prepared to destroy. Human life, the environment, freedom (to a certain extent, certainly the freedom of others). If you realize that but believe you can't change it, that's understandable, but to accept it all because someone points out the good things you have because of it : it's like watching a cop killing your relatives but consoling yourself by buying a mansion with their money.

I have heard economic forcasters predict with our life time america will be tying the shoes for india and china.

They were the economic powerhouses for centuries, it is only within the last few hundred years america ahs become anything and its only been since the end of the second world war when the United states emerged as a power....and thats just becasue the rest of teh planet was devestated by the war, america came in at the end and provided a huge re-supply, then when the war ended they swicthed back to exporting...

it makes sence when you look at americans education on a whole, then look at chinese education.

who really is putting there best foot fwd on that platform?

generations of drop out rednecks really start to create an impact on the intellectuall whole of a country very quickly.
    YEEEEEEHAAAWWW hope your happy now

    Blinkin,

I find myself very surprised by your post. I am not surprised that the American government is the bully of the world or that it was and is taking advantage of war to make a profit. I am surprised because you attack and demoralize ALL Americans for actions that we as individuals had no part in. In fact, most people on these forums weren't even alive during the time of which you speak. I have read many of your posts and I never would have expected to read such aggressive and condescending remarks from you. Stereotypes and insults are very dangerous weapons. If nothing else, it highlights your ignorance. I have family who would probably fall within your definition of a "redneck". Yes, they live in the country and didn't go to college. They also preform intense labor from sun up to sun down to provide you with the food that you eat because Canada's climate cannot support a lot of valuable crops. They are honest, hard-working people who do not deserve your insults.

    Sweet

I dodnt mean any direct offence to teh people of america, I have no quarrel with individual people,
I did generalise stereotypes when I said generations fo rednecks, though I think I was just trying to emphisis a point not really call all americans rednecks.

to clarify what I was trying to emply
was " people so often drop out of school, and get a job, either working manual labour or trade jobs, becasue well, we all ahve to pay the bills,
the emphasis is on money now, bills now, a truck now and so on and so on,
while india , china have for the long run sowed there seeds into there economy and the mass education.
no I have met extremely educated americans though I have met so man many more very intellegent UN-EDUCATED americans...
and yes by my spelling or at least my carelessness in my spelling I would fall into somewhat that catigory, though canadian and highly educated.

I do have a tendancy to go off on america more so then many other of my annoyances,
maybe becasue I see what the united states could be.
though I continue to see a (now I mean to generalise here) a people too lazy to take action, to take upon them selves their inherent right constitutional or moral to stand up against an oppressive government.

thoughmany have guns and say they are excersizing their right to bare arms,
the reason that ammendment or right or whatever it is exists is so that the people would always be ABLE to hold the goverment in check.

now in a time where approval ratings are so low,
in a time where during a presidencies inaugeration his car is pelted with eggs

he is still able to take office...twice!

SO many people just before the last election were so fed up and so militarised to do something if it happened again, and it did....but then everybody just decided to wait it out.....

how many deaths foreign and domestic have been caused by the american people un willingness to take action?

again I did intend to generalise there...

many people disagree with many of my opinions and I thank you for taking the time to read them,

I did not intend to say all americans are rednecks, they are not!

though for the most part, the typical highschool graduate knows very little compared to a graduate in many many other countries this fact has been proven time and time again.
and that indeed was my point.

But hobestly thanks you for calling me on any ignorance my thread my have given off,
it was not intended. more so to polorise and get people to question rather than to insult.

    peace
