I don't often have dreams as random as this one. There is usually a somewhat more solid plot to it.

In the beginning of my dream I could see my friend walking by these traintracks by my house, but he was quite a ways away. It was also kind of muggy out. Anyway, I knew my friend was sad, because suddenly there was a flash of his face really up close and it looked sad. Then all of a sudden I was at the top of the stairs in his house looking into his living room. I was sort of looking for him but not moving. Then suddenly all the furniture in the living room was gone, including the flooring. I walked into the empty living room to see if I could find anyone who had taken the furniture but there was no one there.

It may not sound scary, but it was VERY scary!!

Anyone know what this might mean?

Fear of loss ... maybe something he said or done recently has made you anxious about him.

is the aforementioned friend depressed or acting detached lately? that could have caused this kind of dream.

    Firs time doing this btw...

I thnk you are afraid that your friend migt leave you, as anyone mentioned anything about him moving away? Has your relationship gotten weaker in the past weeks/months? Furniture gone may be a sign of them moving away.
Looking in his house for him could mean you want to tell him something but you are nervous about it, since you are outside looking in and not moving.
    Hope this helped...
