Not at all, the money would be considered "confiscated" and every dealer and grower would have the IRS/DOJ/DEA up their ass. The underground economy for drugs is immense and global - for a glimpse check out a book titled "Reefer Madness" - Eric Schlesser (Sp?).

As teenagers we will see marijuana become more and more accepted. Legalization is still a far ways off, but we have the power as voters. Congress has already swung to the Democratic majority, a.k.a. liberals.

After we finally get this whole 'war' thing under cntrol, i would love to see a push from inside the government to try and repay our debts.

What do you think would cost more? Government taxed bud, or illegally grown, hard to get bud? Sorry for the hijack, but it's relivant.

This is a really misleading title. The growers aren't offering a billion dollars in straight cash. They are proposing that the complete legalization of weed in California is guarenteed to bring the state huge money in tax dollars.

Arnold already knows this. He isn't that dumb.

    Am I missing something?

    Edit: Taken straight from LetUsPaytheTaxes.org

    We offer a solution.

The producers and sellers of marijuana offer the state of California at least one billion dollars in additional tax revenue every year -- and nobody is arguing.

I got really excited when I read this title but what these guys just announced means nothing. They saw CA needed a billion dollars to fill the budget gap. They know regulation of marijuana is worth at least a billion. They are just letting Arnold know that they are not opposed at all to taxes on the weed they grow. They just want it legalized.

That's a nice article and really shows how stupid it is for weed to be illegal throughout the country. I don't care if some states want to keep it illegal, but for goodness' sake, why hurt the economy so much with the drug war when the war against bud WAS LOST BEFORE IT WAS EVEN STARTED?

this is an untapped gold mine for revenue. if the government eased up, or even took contorrl of a share of the market, so much money could be made. Think of even just cigarette taxes.
