that's an amazing list of contributions and energy re-released to the universe. Why cry? these folks had something to say and they did (mostly). Honor what they did, don't wallow in "what could have been." love what you love and see where that spirit is now.
thats a pretty incomplete list.. what about frank zappa? shannon hoon?? need i continue?? an no,, i feel nothing by a list of dead folks...
hillbilly, I think it's an age/missed the boat thing. sure, I have a list of people that i do miss, that I knew through a couple meetings and then their art. But to work myself up over a long list? I have better places to spend my energy. That's not to say i don't feel a twinge when I hear Benny Craig, Allen Woody or Michael Houser, but there are smiles with those tears, y'know? A feeling of being blessed by what they did do....
outta your list of 45 13 died from alchohol or drugs and 5 from suicide, thats a full third of them dying from stupid shit.. i see no reason to miss a idiot. Jim Morrison heart attack caused by drug overdose Jimi Hendrix drug overdose Janis Joplin drug overdose Jerry Garcia Brian Jones suicide Allen Ginsberg Bon Scott alchohol Jack Kerouac alchohol Ronnie Van Zant Steve Gaines William Burroughs Muddy Waters Steve Clark alchohol Robbin Crosby Ken Kesey Timothy Leary Freddie Mercury Pigpen Brad Delp suicide Robert Johnson Howlin' Wolf John Bonham alchohol Keith Moon drug overdose Woody Guthrie T-Bone Walker Willie Dixon Keith Godchaux John Entwhistle drug overdose Brent Mydland Vince Welnick drug overdose??? (cause of death never released) Bradley Nowell drug overdose Stevie Ray Vaughan Neil Cassady alchohol and drugs Michael Hutchence suicide Otis Redding George Harrison Phil Ochs suicide Duane Allman Allen Collins Leon Wilkeson Bob Marley Sam Cooke Tom Fogerty Elvis Presley drug overdose Keith Relf Alan Wilson suicide Randy Rhoads
I think its sad that Garcia died, but he did what he wanted to do with his life, and rode it out until the very ended, so whats to cry about
What about Kurt Cobain and Bradley Nowell!? They were pretty amazing. I wouldnt cry over them but I just figured they need acknowledgement as well.
it makes me feel sad that i'll never get to meet these people, many of them are my idols heaps died before i was born.... but if i made a list, my top person would be Andy Warhol. peace love Jane
I feel kinda the same as Jane. Both of my heroes are dead. (Lennon & Harrison) Always makes me cry. But a part of them is still alive, their music. As long as that doesnt die, their love will stay forever on this planet.
Could you please add Mark Vann to the list? He was one of the most talented Banjo players that ever lived. Chrckout Leftover Salmon sometine Woodstock. And thank you.
ahhhh.. Mark was a special soul, and gave so much to getting other bands started while salmon got stuck on the festival treadmill. Here's the obit I wrote for him: http://www.angelfire.com/music/hooperchick/Markvann.html
Of course I love the banjo My best friend is a banjo player These are all people who have made a profound impact on my life. How they died has no effect on how much I miss them thank you whoever made the rude comment.
all you people talking about crying over these people are absolutely ridiculous let's look at the facts: - you didn't know them - they were fucking musicians, following the current trend, we aren't tlaking Gandhi here - everyone fucking dies, so it's not like it's a suprise - these people have been dead, so once again, that they are still dead, is absolutely no suprise
ha,,, ha.. at least i wont be known as the idiot who had everything and killed himself or overdosed..
Yes thats true. But people can just get emotional about things like that. When their music make a great impact on you, you dont really want to let that go, you wished that he/she was still alive. I mean, if John Lennon was alive, if i knew he was wandering somewhere. i would feel very happy and safe. It takes me away sometimes that John is dead, that we can never hear or see a genious like that. One amazing person has left the world, and i think people may shed a tear for that. Its not a crime. But thats just life i guess.
