Yesterday I bought a 1976 Chevy Bluebird and she drives like a dream. The bus movie has started already, I can't find anyone to insure it. I tried the big companies and they all refused to offer me any insurance. I'm going to try the small local guys next.

Anybody know an insurance company that will cover an old bus?

if first you insure just any old car , they'll let you add the bus to the policy .

I got insurance and titled her in my name. Next comes the dreaded emissions test...
There's three snapshots that I got from the previous owner in my gallery, more pics to come soon.

I use Poulos up here in VT. Was very cheap to insure bus. Didn't need to have another vechile on the road to do it as well. Big Big Big thing is when you talk to the ins companies DO NOT tell them it is a bus. it is a RV or mobile home, you will have much more luck. peace.

Try Progressive. Tell them you'll be a "full-timer".

progressive is cheap but they have the converted school bus clause (like most insurance companies)...a lot of times the agents don't even know the clause is there but wreck a bus with a crew of folks on it & you'll learn about the clause pretty quick...JuJu sure did (progessive paid the first couple of claims, then canceled the policy & took JuJu to court, saying that he didn't tell the agent that it was a converted school bus when he had, he even bragged about the conversions)

but that didn't stop us from using progressive for our last road bus...couldn't find any insurance without the clause & Progessive was the cheapest for RV insurance

Yeah, I went with Progressive already. They were cheap and didn't care that my vehicle is a bus. If I ever try to make a claim then things might change, but for now I'm legal. Also, I passed my emissions test, which is pretty strict in Boulder County.

I've been living aboard for three days now and it is awesome. Yesterday I bought a deep cycle so I have lights and fans and tunes. My three way refer is humming along nicely, too. I can't believe I didn't do this years ago. However it is not all perfect, a bus movie is a bus movie afterall. The first night I parked, legally, on the street by a park and got tagged as an abandoned vehicle. I called the police and straightened it out OK. It's funny having a bus because some people think it is awesome and some people think it is horrible. When I'm driving around, some people wave and some people glare. When I'm parked, some people want to talk to me and are super friendly and some people actually point and make rude comments.
