Hello. Ill be the first. I love Sims. I dont know why, because it seems so lame. But it is so addicting and I love building the houses, and designing really fun. And all of my sims has the hippiest names like Sage, Chamomille, and Ryvr. Alright, admit you love em!
I love Sims, I need to get another copy. I once made a neighborhood with all of my characters in it. It was cool. I put the Arachnes in the olf Goth house. donovan, Felicity ((still alive)) with their kids Morganna and Mordred. Moira and MJ in the little house, and was working on the Dragonfly and Summersby families..... It was so funny. Donovan, who in the story hates his sister in law was flirting with her in Sim. I laughed so hard.
I played the Sims, but not anymore. Cos i have Windows 98, and the Sims acts really weird when i wanna play it. it turns off after 5 minutes. I lived in a house with The Beatles, Janis Joplin and Bob Dylan. And i married George Harrison And Bob Dylan was a bit attracted to Ringo i think. They were happy together. too bad i cant play it anymore.
Big Sim2 fan here. Though I'm a bit unchallenged by it lately, and that's how I ended up in this forum. I've been playing since Sims1, so that's about 6 years total. I have even been a SimMaster at the official site during both Sims1 and Sims2 (for a short spell) - but gave up doing that because moderating there is a LOT of work. A LOT. I'm also involved with the Neighborhood99 Pak Squad. It's a site where you can download objects, skins, walls and floors for your game. The first pack we worked on was called "Retro Active", and it covered the 60s, 70s and 80s. You can find hippie stuff on our site for your Sims if you want! We've done quite a few paks since then, but I loved the first one the most. Ok, NEXT! Who's addicted!
For some reason, I have always seen people who play "The Sims" as extremely sad people... Do you play someone else's life out because of a lack of a life of your own? Wouldn't it be better to let the silly game go...and like...go out instead?
Well, I might decide to get out of the basement, and see the world now since you have showed me the light. But, I would imagine that you play games just like the rest of us, just not role playing games. I mean seriously can you tell me you never played GUITAR HERO???? HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
I cannot possibly stand guitar hero. I play the guitar... people who play guitar hero could be actually learning the guitar instead of playing that crap.
First, if that's a picture of you, I have to say, you are one really great looking guy. And yeah, I'm old enough to be your Mom. Doesn't mean my sight is gone Your remark about Simmers is one we always hear. Most of us view it as a hobby and nothing more. We all have lovers, families and lives, jobs, kids and pets, other interests. And as the OP said, I love the game for the build feature. My family has always been in the building/real estate/appraisal business as far back as I can remember - myself included - so that floats my boat. Yeah. But, there is a faction of Sim fans that IMHO, go a bit overboard. Either that or they have no jobs that take up most of their time, because they get into these horrendously long and detailed stories about the families, which I could care less about. Then, I was invited to a forum once where there was actually a section for your Sims that had died, a recap of their lives and eulogies! That, freaked me out. There is no way on earth I care about a Sims life THAT much. I might not kill them, but I don't grieve their passings - that's for sure. Some of those posts were down-right creepy. But all in all, it's a higly amusing game.
I've played guitar Hero 1 or 2 times, my friends have it. It's fun once in a while, but to get so obsessed with it, I can't even imagine doing that.
People get insulted for playing The Sims? Wow... I've never actually been insulted for it, I tell everybody I play it, and a lot of them do too. XD I especially loved the Seasons EP. I'm obsessed with weather and the seasons, so that is basically the best EP they could ever make for me (other then one with more instruments. -_-) I don't really like any other simulation games. I know I wouldn't like Guitar Hero because the guitar itself in the first place is a really boring instrument to me. I guess the reason I'm not insulted is because I don't spend all of my days playing these games. I have times where I play it a lot, but never more then a few hours a day. I don't think I've even played The Sims 2 in the last two months, it gets boring after a while.
why play guitar hero when you could just be playing the guitar? why play the dance game when you can just go to a club and dance? cus its fun. AS for sims.... Cant believe people are dissing it. If you dont like it, you dont have to tell people they have no lives because they like a role playing game or enjoy the construction and interior decorating of the game. that just makes you ass holes. And we dont want to be assholes? right? Yes I have met people who have seriously been into guitar hero, but its starting to fade out.
I'm just stating the impression I get, not judging you. Haha, yes... it's a picture of me... thank ya The architecture aspect of The Sims is intriguing, but it's also overly simple... wouldn't actually drawing designs or such be more of a challange? (Even though I must admit that The Sims is much more visually stimulating). I had the original Sims game when it first came out. I couldn't stand the game itself, but building stuff was great. I used to build my own house in the game. ...but yes, the forums you mention are rather sad.... but nothing comes close ot World of Warcraft..... people need rehab for that shit.
I have to say that they have never really appealed to me either. But I wold'nt neccssarily call people who play them sad, that would be Flight Simulator programmes.............very sad indeed, not to mention BORING.
It's guitar playing for those who can't /don't want to play a real guitar. It's fun....for a while at least.
Yeah, there are some days I wish I was 18 again. *lol* Sounds like you only played Sims1? When you played, did you add custom content to the game? That makes a huge difference in the build/buy mode choices and furnishings. Sims2 is leaps and bounds above Sims1. It's 3D, not the 2D Sims1 was. And the Sims themselves are more well rounded personality wise and much more interesting. Though after the release of every new EP, I get bored with all the new interactions, and go back to building. I'd say 96% of my in-game time is spent building or decorating. I play the family long enough to get them jobs and cooking skills, then off to build. I usually never go back and play that family, but at least they won't burn the house down when I'm not looking. Currently I have 1.5GB of custom content. Most of my homes are done in ranch style with a 70s flair. Takes me back to better days. You mean there's a game MORE addictive than The Sims??? I don't believe that. *lol* Someone else mentioned digging the Seasons EP. That's one of my favorites, along with Night Life and Open For Business - on the rare occasions that I play the game, having a Sim own a business is very entertaining and challenging. Oh, and SirRubin - in the hallway of my house, I have a vintage 12-string acoustic Gibson, that I don't even touch anymore. Wait, I lie...I did pull it out last year when I heard the song by Neil Young "Four Strong Winds" and ripped it off. That song touched me enough to pull the old girl out again. I'm torn between selling it (worth about 1,000 now - saw the same exact thing on eBay a few years back go for that - same model #) and just holding on to it for all the great memories, and songs that were written on that thing. Got it from a friend for $100 in the late 70s - who needed rent money. Is it news then, that he was/is a major burn out? Giving up that thing for rent??? :-O
More addictive than the Sims? You betcha. Google "world of warcraft fans picture" and you'll see what I mean. And Everquest.. man don't get me STARTED. Never played it but i've seen people get seriously lost in it (including one guy who apparently shot himself while playing). it earns its nickname of Evercrack. I've had a go on the Sims 2 on my girlfriends computer and honestly I dunno what all the fuss is about. Sure, you can control little people. And it's kinda fun picking outlandish stuff for them to wear (if that makes me gay so be it) and building houses. But I like lashings of the old ultraviolence in my games and hence I turn to GTA: San Andreas
ME TOO! Names: Ryver (great minds think alike, sort of.) Freedom amerika Shanti ...oh there are more..i just don't want to bore you. haha.
