Anyone else going through it besides me?

It started for me about 3 years ago, with periods being about every other month. After 3 years, I'm down to two periods a year! You won't hear me complain about that... After you've not had one for 6 months, you tend to forget what a friggin' mess the whole affair is, and I find myself truly disgusted when it does arrive. I piss and moan the entire time. *lol*

The emotional side was a bit hard to get under control. Crying and intense anger (at nothing inparticular) coming out of no-where that I simply could not control. I've had to leave work and go home simply because of this. I was about to bite someone's head off.

For about a year I was using some soy pills to try and help (New Phase), then had to go to the extra strength. They just didn't do the job intended, and no way do I want to go to the Dr.s and start hormones. I'll exhaust every natural means until nothing seems to work anymore. As a last resort, I started taking St. John's Wort. It's been over a year now I'd guess, and I've added a good deal of soy based foods to my diet. Things now seem much more managable. I can't remember the last time I got in the "angry as hell for nothing" mode. And teary moments are not near as frequent - and much less intense. All I can say is thank gawd for St. Johns Wort. :)

Any other ladies here going through the change, and if so - what's working for you?

Well, I'm definitely not going through THAT change, but I can fully sympathize with your symptoms, as I share many of them.

I have a condition called PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which has caused my hormones to be totally out of whack since puberty. My periods have also always been really irregular - once I went 11 months without. But lately I've found a few things I could do to really help get it under control, and I feel like practically a different person. It's a good thing - especially in the "long run". I'll be in much better health all the way around, and I'll probably have a better time having healthy kids if we ever decide to. :)

But as a result, my periods have become much more regular. On one hand it's nice because I know better what my body's doing, but on the other hand I need to get used to this total hassle on a regular basis, sometimes I don't know how other women can do it and keep their heads! On top of that, and much worse, my hormones are still totally out of whack, and doing something totally different every cycle, every week. So I get everything from hot/cold flashes all the time, to REALLY bad cramps, sore breasts, to crazy mood swings like you described.

But the amazing thing is, I'm still happy to be going through all this because I know I'll be better off for it in a few years. :)

I've never heard of that syndrome. It's good that your body is finally functioning more like it should. You're much to young to have to deal with something like this. But, you take what life hands you, right?

I know a lot of women that don't mind their periods at all, because it's a "rythm" thing, and makes them still feel in touch with the natural side of life. Me, I think I'm over that. I had a nano second when I thought "OMG! I won't be a 'real woman' anymore!" But that's just rubbish thinking.

I can't say enough about St. John's Wort for moods. And I don't (never have) taken the "recommended dosage". For one, it would break the bank as all herbal remidies are quite pricy, and secondly - too many vitimins and suppliments end up just going through you and not being fully absorbed. So, I just take two pills a day with food. You might want to try it for the mood thing.

I have that, too, and I found wild yam cream helps to make me regular. I can't say enough good about it! Phyto-progesterone is produced in the wild yams, a hormone that's needed and doesn't get made with PCOS. The brand I use is called Progesta-Care.
