when will my brother grow up?insight

Im posting this question or out of, (wanting an opinon) then anything

My brother is 24 years old, he will be 25 end of the year, he works for a carpet cleaning place making 1200 dollars a month, good money for a single guy with no kids, he lives with my parents, and has no plans on moving out.
He is looking for a girlfriend who will pay his way thru life?!
And not a girl who would want a family or have her husband be the bread winner. Get what im saying?
He is looking for a suger mommie in other words.
Now, some info on my brother, He is a pig, doesnt know how to clean,
doesnt take showers for sometimes weeks, and he says he dont know why he
cant get women?
He rents a stroage unit, where he has all his ATVS and toys, and sometimes will even sleep there, over night. He spends his money before he gets it
he dont know how to write checks, im scared for his future.
Now like i said, this doesnt concern me, as i have im only worried for him
but my ? is, is there any hope for my brother? Will he grow up
and stop thinking so much with what is in his pants and make something of his life?

 

When your parents give him the boot, or they pass away, he will be forced to grow up.
Don't worry about him. He is doing what he is allowed to do, or what he can get away with.

I feel for you. I have a girlfriend I've known since high school (1969). She has a younger brother that is STILL, in the same mode you describe your brother. Except he doesn't even seem to be looking for any women. At 47 years of age, he is still sleeping on his Moms couch. The father died about 5 years ago, and her older sister who'd never left the nest herself lived there (but she did a LOT to contribute to the family and always had a job too) - the sister died of lung cancer two years later. The younger brother living there never lifted a finger to help his dying father or sister, it all ended up on my friend. The family had done nothing to encourage him to do anything for himself. To this day, he's still living there with his mom, 3-4 years after the deaths - on the couch. While Mom tells my friend "Gail, we need to go out and buy Randy some underwear." "Gail, Randy needs jeans." "Gail, someone needs to pay Randy's bills." And Gail all this time is freaking out. She's no creampuff, she gets ticked, lays it out but nothing changes. She's said, after her Mom is dead, she's leaving town. Randy, at age whatever by then - will have to figure out how to do all this stuff on his own. He's not dumb, he's just selfish. And, he'll deserve whatever stress he gets from it all.


I know that was long winded...sorry. But I agree with the above poster. Unless your parents take a stand and make him stand up on his own two feet, he could end up another Randy.

 

I have never heard of 1200/month referred to as "good money"

anyway, I suppose he will grow up when something makes him do it, thats probably about it

 

for a single guy, who pay's no rent, has no bills and only has a cell phone bill and needs to buy gas for his truck , that is good money.
In this day and age, if he was living on his own, he wouldnt be able to fuck around the way he does , so to speak if he had bills to pay..

 

Your right, my parents spon feed my brother, then they wonder and bitch , why he takes avantage of them all the time, god , wow? i wonder why

 

1200 a month is good money, i work 2 jobs one at 8 hours & then another 3 hour job to earn that money a month.

 

Ummm... I believe they were talking 1200 US dollars a month not 1200 GBP. $1200 US is 593.50 GBP.

 

1200 a month would leave you 600 dollars a month to pay all your bills food etc here, and this is a pretty cheap place to live

in fact, 1200 a month is probably the minimum amount of money you can earn working full time legally in the US

as far as england goes, i don't even understand how people can live a good life there without a wealthy family considering how expensive it is and how little people make

 

Ok ill say this one more time! My brother doesnt pay rent! He live's with my parents!, He has no bill's! No children,! Not much of anything but a cell phone bill. so when you have all that money and no bill's to spend it on, yeah that is alot of money for one person with nothing to pay, wouldnt you say>?

 

When did your brother start using drugs? Was it around the age of 13? It seems like he is stuck around that age.
You cant control his life or the life of your parents, so please do not try to do so.

The human brain reaches the level of development at which it is capable of long range planning around the age of 25. Maybe he will grow up soon and start taking showers.

No it is not a great deal of money. What he does with his money is not your business. How your parents treat their son is not your business.
Mind your own business.

yeah pretty much. Honestly i think it is sad, but hey its his life.!

 

Your brother sounds like me when I was his age. Then just as I was making a little bit of money I screwed up bad and got busted for dope and DUI. Six months later I was out of jail..no job..and ended up at my dads house. Although I got a job and worked my ass off..getting promoted from cook to kitchen manager at the job my sister helped me get I really didnt "grow up" till i was about 40. Hope it doesnt take that long for your brother.

 

I feel for you, my bro is the same way. My bro got the boot last year though and his place is hell lol. Roaches, bugs, ants, dirty, trashed just horribly filthy!! I'm scared for his future too but he's a piece of shit and he's a dick but hey he's family.....lol doesn't seem to help but he'll be fine don't worry.

 

Not as long as your parents are footing the bill he won't.
