I had my hair dreaded yesterday by a couple of friends and its mostly good but a few are far fatter than I'd like. Is it possible to split them into two thinner dreads or am I stuck with what I have? They aren't tightly knotted yet and I could probably pull them apart to the root quite easily. Any pointers/ideas?

since they are so new, you could probably brush any ones out that your are un-happy with, and then just re backcomb them. into two dreads :) good luck!

yeah you could do what caelynn/madi said. really not sure what her name is. but what i would do is just let them grow the way they are and see what happens. but thats just me

Theyre probably rather puffy atm, but theyll shrink alot over the next few months. And then after that theyll fatten back up...

Awesome, thanks guys. I'm going to leave them as they are and see how they go. I've rewaxed and rolled them and they're already starting to look better.

ack! get that wax out, pronto. wax is awful for dreads. non-residue shampoo and lots of hot water is what i hear cures candlestickhead.

dude! get it out please. it pains me to hear that you waxed it. wax prohibits movement of the hairs slowing them down alot and it retains water which can lead to mold. please get it out

It's all about a kettle and a breadboard and a friend with a steady hand!
