I work in a casual office setting, my group is small (currently 4 people) and we are not usually in contact with clients, so it is not uncommon for someone to have their shoes off in our office, but rarely do we go outside of our office without shoes. I usually drive to work without shoes, slip them on when I arrive and at some point early in the day they end up under my desk, unless I leave the office for lunch, restroom breaks or staff meetings, then at the end of the day I slip back into them to walk to my car, and take them off for my commute home. So in a normal day usually only my closest co workers ever see me without shoes and since they are barefoot a lot of the time it is not a problem. However one day last summer I drove to work without my shoes on as I normally do, but when I reached behind the driver seat to fetch my shoes I realized that when I cleaned my car out the previous night I took my shoes in the house. So now I am at the parking lot with no shoes, I decided that I had no choice but to go into work barefoot. While a lot of people outside my group noticed my lack of footware, most comments were positive, the girl working the front desk security revealed that she was also shoeless at that time. Well I must say at times during the day I felt uncomfortable not having shoes, it still was an exciting and unforgetable day. I now keep another pair of shoes in my trunk. Any body else have a time when they did not have shoes and were forced to be barefoot all day in a setting that usually requires shoes at least in common area's ?
Can't say that I have. I think you were pretty bold to walk into your workplace barefooted with no shoes in sight. If that would have happend to me I guess I would have driven back home and fetched my shoes. Upon arriving back to work I would have had some excuse made up for the boss to explain why I was late.
I've never had a time like that. I'm glad that you had a good day at work barefoot! Maybe that goes to show you that you really don't need shoes at all for work :sunglasse
Unfortunately i have to wear shoes at work, they wouldn't let me in without them. "Safety" reasons...
