why does one want to get high after all? I asked this question to myself over years. in my opinion, that is one of the first symptoms of enlightenment.

it easily seems to be about the need for fun at the first sight yet there are many more, much easily accessable ways for fun and entertainment. yet we see around us and in ourselves a desire for a harder way, "drugs" and "getting high"!

I say, one -subconsciously at first- feels or sees the bars -call it whatever you want, the system, the Man, the machine, Babylon... etc...- that the humankind erected around their minds and lives. and this leads to some burning desire to escape from the prison.

then comes a junction, one of purpose; while one usually begins getting high simply to entertain him/herself, it breaks some inner barrier and the person sees another reality where everything is crystal clear; he then sees the bars of the cage with his consciousness. here is when he chooses the purpose of the "high" for he is rewarded with temporary freedom. he may or may not choose to transcend, for it's an agonizing process, usually.

so, long story short; drugs and getting high are not the 'purpose' but the 'means', as meditation is usually the next step for freedom of mind. I totally respect (and still use) psychedelics for they showed me the way, it's up to me to carry on. I wouldn't have started with meditation in the first place, I should say to be honest.

in Zen, when one practices Zazen and follows the silence of the mind enough; his/her brain attempts a final counter strike against his/her expanding consciousness: Makyo. Makyo is the collective name for all kinds of hallucinations the Zen student experiences (and it's said to be stronger than ANY psychedelic substance; even Salvia, DMT and Mescaline) They are not to be attached, they are obstacles, he/she must go beyond Makyo and reach total silence of thoughts, of emotions, of judgements. in that silence will he/she find the true self and total freedom from all kind of cages and be just his or her self.

would love to 'hear' your comments on these subjects :)

    peace and love dears

it is natural to want to 'get high'. the first time i meditated i didnt get very far. then i took 5 grams of mushrooms and meditated - ever since that trip meditation has come very easy. on that trip i reached what most would consider a connection to the divine source or white light. it was a love so full and vibrant that it filled every part of my body with this warm white light. kinda like i let the shrooms show me the way.

i would not have tried meditation if it wasnt for my psychedelic drug use. i was determined to get as much as i could out of these experiences and found that my meditations were easier after i had tripped and that my trips were easier after i had been meditating.

i also found that although meditation and psychedelic drugs showed me things about myself and those around me, it was very easy for me to forget all that i had learned as i fell back into my old patterns. it was up to me to make sure that i put what i had learned into practice. i had to become what i had envisioned while high - it was not going to magically happen.

i have been meditating and using psychedelic drugs now for 10+ years and i have come a very long way. i would not be who i am without either one. after everything i have been through i know what i have to do and how i am going to do it. i have realized what it takes to be a good person living in love. we must be honest, loving and accepting. of course this is a difficult thing to understand and a lot of the time people dont see my caring about them as any form of love although it most definitely is. we live in a society where it is rude to be honest so when i speak my mind and tell someone what i think about them they get upset because they dont want to change. they think that if i truly loved them then i would just leave them be - NOT TRUE, how could i in good conscious just sit back and let someone suffer. most times knowing is half the battle so i dont mind if someone dislikes me for a few minutes if it means that i get to help them understand themselves better.

like i said, i have come a long way. but, i am not dead yet so i am only to assume that i am not there yet as i continue learning and growing. thanx to drugs like marijuana, lsd and shrooms as well as meditation i am happy to say that i am making far better progress then most of the blind fools walking the streets of north america today.

Where does one start with meditation? I have heard so many good things about it and would like to try it but I dont know where to begin.

Zeppelin, meditation is an amazing thing and I totally recommend getting into it. I'd just grab a book about it, to start off, then take a class, it's pretty simple. I love it! :)
    Ommmm..

Sit on the ground, close your eyes, and just exist.
Eventually, the overwhelming sound of Om that
underlies all of existance will vibrate into your
state and you will smile when you open your eyes :)

yet this is the hard part dear isn't it? :)
this is what we strive for, not easy because of our minds' conditioning.
if you asked me what is the 'purpose' of meditation I would give just that (learning to just exist) as an answer

    (though I wouldn't answer, really :D )
