Hey, I had a pretty big nuisence last time I went camping.. the flies wouldn't stop bothering us! We were sitting around the campfire and there were literally about 10-15 flies constantly buzzing around us! We had mosquito wires (which are like mosquito-incense) and bug spray, but they weren't affected. How would ya'll recommend for me to protect myself against the flies?
Most of my friends fill a gallon size zip lock bag half way with water a hang them on there porch. they said something about when the sunlight shines on the bag it annoy's them. I never tried this but they say its works.
I have seen people use the zip lock bags also filled with water and a penny,,never tried this myself,,but they do say it works.
evergreen branches on the fire usually keep away all kinds of insects. Also creates some smoke, so, be aware of your position around the fire
that gallon bag thing, with 3 penny's really does work, i went camping in new mexico and it kept the flies away from dining fly's and such.
what you just put the pennys in the ziplock whith the water? also have you ever watched a western and the mexicans have little tasels on their hats? fly swoshers! it dosent get rid of them but helps keep them out of your face! works for skeeters too!
this water in a zip-lock baggie thing has just amazed me....I went out to my dad's the other day and he had a baggie of water hangin' on his door....when I asked him about it ..he said it keeps the flies away....a friend of the family who runs a 400+ head of cattle dairy farm swears by it...damnest thing I have ever seen...but it does work.......Dow and Union Carbide...have probably known about this for years...but there ain't no money in baggies and water.. but it does work ...he never made any reference to the pennies in the bag...so I don't know about that end of it ..plain water in a bag seems to do the trick as well
