The biggest mind trip game of all... who plays? Do you play on the net? Does anyone else share this strange addiction? I travel with a chess set in my backpack everywhere I go. I can't get enough. There isn't much else to say. Probobly why this thread doesn't exist.Ok.I'm done.
I haven't played chess in quite a few years. I do love the game though. Thinking about it actually makes me want to go out and buy a chess set and find someone to play with to refresh my memory. There really isn't much to say on the subject of chess though, is there? lol
I love chess and would probably be more serious about it if anyone in my family had played against me when I was little. As sad as it is, I can probably count the number of games I've played against a person on 2 hands.
I love chess. My friend and I played with change in the park the other day because they had chess tables, but no pieces.
A game of chess is like going to the gym for your brain. An amazing, addictive and portable past-time. I used to play a lot, but now I'm in Thailand I only get the chance to play on the net. I use Yahoo Games. It's fun and you can set a timer too, to limit the length of the game. I have the same username so if anybody is up for a game, see if i'm logged into Yahoo and just PM me there. Peace, Aidan
Damn... I gotta play some of this shit on the net. Sometimes I feel like such a nerd because the only video games I actually like playing on a regular basis are those that require insane logic and reasoning. In either case chess rocks. Thanks to this thread, i'm going to try to find a cool site to play it on. Cheers
To any that are interested : Gameknot.com is a great chess website... you can play multiple games at once, are given a rating based on wins/losses against and against who, and you only need to move once every couple of days... definitely check it out. My username is ningatin... feel free to challenge me.
Where in Thailand are you? I traveled around the country for about 40 days in/around June. I travel with a chess set but I guess I didn't run into you
I'm living in the rural backwaters of Ubon Ratchathani, as far east as you can go, about 100kms from the Laos border. Did you make it as far as here? I'm a volunteer English teacher at a small school for farmer's children. I have been here for a year, it sure beats the hell out of the tourist-girly bar scene you find in most of Thailand. I don't know how long I will stay, probably another year or two. I have made a lot of friends here and can hold a conversation in Thai now so it seems a shame to just leave. But, I want to try to get back to India at some stage. Peace, Aidan
i only spent 40 days in thailand, however didn't hit the islands at all. did a meditation retreat near chaiya for 10 days... at Wat Suan Mok.. i'm sure you've heard of it.. alot of travellors go through there. I didn't get to where you are in thailand, but i did Laos pretty well apart from skipping the whole Savanaket region (I'm guessing that's right by where you're talking about) oh well. Join gameknot for free and have me a game, you can take up to 14 days per move.. its great for being overseas. How long were you in india?
I love to play the game chess.. I was a member of Game knot for some time till my account got restricted for posting a avitar that said kiss my ass. Now I'm currently at www.chessmaniac.com which is even a cooler chess site.. More games to play. More tourns. The ranking scale on game knot is not quite as advanced as the one used on maniac.. + like I said you get alot more games..
yea i play chess on yahoo games too, but i keep losing, everytime i think im going to make a sweet move which will put me in a good pos. the opponent uses it to win. im provisional and havent one a single of the 50 games i played. so for the moment im sticking to simple online checkers
Well, I suppose I'll have to check out the gameknot thingy. I was in India twice. For 3 and then 6 months. It's my favourite place to travel. Not sure if I could live there. One of these days I'll get onto Gameknot and stretch your imagination. Peace, Aidan
