I also donlt find any of his music bizarre... I think he was a groundbreaking sort of dude who made people sit up and take notice. Not to mention the fact that he is extraordinarily good looking! *drool*
definite friend.....sound and vision is such a fun song....as is popular hits like ziggy, life on mars, and golden years...
I love Bowie! he's a very good artist! Out of his albums I love Diamond Dogs,,,Scary Monsters,,and ZIggy Stardust most of all,,,
Man... I've been listening to Bowie ever since I was 12 or so. "Rock and Roll Suicide" is still probebly the song that touches me the most. Even though... that time period when he had the George Michael stash... that was just scary.
I love Bowie, but I can't say I did as a kid, like some of you guys... I was 8 y/o when I saw the movie Labyrinth--his character scared the "#$# out of me!! Only now can I fully appreciate his talent and hotness.
he's one of the most influential artists of the last 30-40 years. i was just watching a fan-made dvd comprising all his tv interviews circa 2002. the man has such a good outlook on life, an attitude of not giving a flying fuck what people think of him and what he chooses to do. he talks candidly about addiction, fear, spirituality, experimentation, isolation and depression. i think he has attained hero status among so many people because of the fearless way he breaks all the 'rules' and ends up changing the very medium he is working in. music, performance, film, stage, writing... and on top of all that he is incredibly funny and charming. i love almost all his work, but a standout album/era is the transition from white-boy soul to ambient electronica. station to station, low and "heroes" are his strongest albums. also, unlike so many of his contemporaries from way back then, he continues to make vital, emotional music for the sheer love of it. this thread really belongs in the 70's! don't look at the carpet i drew something awful on it see?
Friend or Foe for who? His album called let's dance is one of the greatest records of 80s. Steve Ray Vaughn on the guitar added vary well do his job on this album.
Some early Bowie is great too -'Space Oddity' is about my fave from the early days. 'Hunky Dory' too. And the singles - Gene Genie, John I'm only Dancing, Rebel Rebel - all stuff that still sounds good many years on. 'Let's Dance' was a great album - I also like 'Scary Monsters' from the 80's - The video for 'Ashes to Ashes' was amazing. Actually, Bowie is one of the very few rock and rollers I still occaisionally listen to....
David Bowie is great... Why'd you post him in 80's? the 80's was when he started acting. But What do you mean by biazzare? I Mean there's some weird stuff like Future Legend, you gotta admit... but what kind of bizzare?
Lol, I was in idiot mode and my brother told me Bowie was in Ben Hur from the 40's and I fell for it cuz I wasn't thinking! lol! Yeah Labyrinth was a Acid Trip... David Bowie had to be the one giving the LSD to the Directors and Script Writers.
