Ok so I have this Obsession for The Band that i believe is seriously unhealthy... I more than Love their music... But it seams I am the only one I know (apart from my dad) that have actually heard of and appreciate their music... So I was wondering what you guys thought of them?
before the flood is an awesome live album, but you should look for the basement tapes too the band was incredible and all too forgotten. robbie robertson's one of the most underrated songwriters
i turned on the tv one night after getting back from somwhere campin and their was this major long concert of em - but it was amazing cos they had loads of guest artists - joni mitchell, bob dylan, muddy waters - it was a cosmetic bonanza of a show - and whats more I liked their style - they all looked like they'd just stepped off a tractor.
That would be the "Rockumentary" The Last Waltz... I think people need to dig a little further than The Weight when listening to the Band... Although that song is a GREAT song (and i seriously stress the word great) there are so many other songs by these guys that i think are almost, if not as good, as The Weight
so reccommend me a good album - funnily enough i looked on my i tunes and yeah seems all the ones i downloaded are off the last waltz - 'up on cripple creek','it makes no difference','mystery train' amongst others
"The Last Waltz" was just their last concert together as the original band. Theres a cd out called The Last Waltz with all the live recordings from that night so its just a compilation album of sorts... I would seriously recommend any album but their self titled album "The Band" has some great songs... BTW I love It makes no difference (the live version from The Last Waltz)... Danko really put soul into it
