    firefox!
its safer, more secure. internet explorer is extraordinarily insecure. youll get fewer viruses and keyloggers and shit on your system using mozilla
you should check your hardware and see if you can buy another stick of ram to shove into youir computer. usually a little extra ram will solve issues like that, ulness youre cpu is ancient of course. plus ram is relatively chea p(compared to other computer hardware)

If you can't run Firefox with 1g of ram then you have other problems. It could be hardware, but more likely if you are using Windows and have been for awhile you need to reinstall. When I used Windows I had to reinstall about once a year to keep everything running decently. Otherwise it would continue to slow down. If you are going to do this then you might as well try out linux. You can do so without even installing it by using a live CD. I think Ubuntu is a great distro to start on.

I have never had IE out preform Firefox.

FF is better mainly because it don't automatically trust code (programs not HTML) on websites and run it (the biggest way viruses and crap enter your computer.) It tends to err on the side of caution regarding plugins, unlike IE that wants to run any ol' program the web sends your way.

What kind of plug ins and tool bars do you have installed in firefox vs IE? i'd imagine you have accumulated a lot more bonus features with firefox overs the years than you have with IE becasue you dont use it. If IE were to have the same amount of stuff, i can garantee it would use more ram. Uninstalling firefox wont help your ram, and wont make WoW run any faster when he's in heavily populated cities (which is most likely what your brother is having trouble with) Make sure he closes out all other programs before starting wow, including rverything non essential in your task bar. Its also very likely that something the virus did, or something your step dad did is screwing with your comp.
How much hard drive space do you have left on your comp? That might also be an issue.
My suggestion: Download a program called Hijackthis and go to www.castlecops.com post a log on the forums, and explain what problems your experiencing...in about 3 days you'll have a proffessional guiding you through steps to annihialate all the baddies on your system.

I have to say I use both, and with equal efficiency... Some webpages don't display properly with firefox, so I use internet explorer for those few.. I've never had any problems with either. Now IE has tabs too, so everyone's a winner.

Opera is by far the fastest browser.
The best benefit of not using IE is that you are not using a Microsoft product
Firefox is community based and open source. It is also more secure.

Opera is super fast (but it's closed source. )

If you have 1G ram and firefox is slow - you have a virus.
As mentioned before - installing Linux is a good choice if you are willing to learn a bit about computers.

firefox is less irritating and is about 3000 times less prone to attacks than nitwit-explorer

i don't have problems with firefox.. the only time my comp runs slow is when i start it up, but i think i've fixed that problem now... and i think dangermoose is right about IE using less ram because it's never been updated on my comp

I go for firefox because I can play with the configurations to suit my needs. Also, firefox has all these extensions to make browsing easier and safer too..

Not computer savy by any means, but I only use firefox. I use it because IE sometimes can't/wont bring up certain pages on my computer...webpages that I frequently visit. Perhaps there is a way to fix it, but firefox has no problem locating me to those pages so alas I use firefox.

I have only a 256MB RAM on my PC and have no problem running Firefox. I have noticed with the latest update there is an auto spell check for when using a quick reply box such as this one.

Honestly, I use firefox and have never really had a problem with it. I've caught viruses b/c of downloading games, but never surfing the net. And I seem to get less pop-ups as well which is always an added bonus.

If you really want to have a secure computer, I'd suggest using Ubuntu by Linux (another poster mentioned that) instead of Windows. I have yet to switch my computer to it, but my boyfriend has it on his and swears his life by it. There are less viruses made for Linux software, so the chances of getting a virus are lower. AND your identity is better protected.

I use I-E7 because the last time I ran FF' I found some conflicts between the two-I have MSN and Bill Gates is super paranoid about bugs-email extensions can be a real problem to send.-I also have Norton so my security level is super high and effects the Fox somehow.I use and swear by PC PITSTOP for total diagnostics and evaluation on the tweaking of my pc-I have 1 gb of ram also but am adding another-If you have XP' you want to change the default settings on System Restore so it only stores about two days worth of backup files instead of 2 months worth-just slide it down to 1000 mb.- then change the TCPIP cache size so Windows dosen't store so many files-I did that then defragged and it nearly doubled my speed!-PC Pitstopp is free and the great tests and diagnostics were right on and easy to follow-check it out.
