I'm fairly new to mushrooms (except for an ill-fated attempt with Amanita the other night) so I'd like to know what the difference is between "prints" and spores. It sounds confusing to me. Thanks.

Spores are on prints. Prints are taken from a mushroom when it enters its spore phase or whatever its called. Spores are how mushrooms reproduce.

OK, thanks. So it's basically the same thing in another form, I guess.

No, it is the same thing, in the same form, only laying on a piece of foil or some other surface so that it is easy to work with.

By the way, if you're thinking of purchasing spores, I recommend a spore syringe since you are inexperienced. It is a solution of spores and sterile water inside of a syringe and requires much less effort because you can just shoot it into your substrate. Spore prints require more preparation.

It's illegal to buy or sell liquid culture, so he would have to make it.

When your going to buy a grow kit - make sure you get a spore syringe and not the print. It's much easier with the syringe :)
