I'm from the uk personally, but I too think there are some very fishy goings on around the whole 9/11 farce. I was in NY a few weeks before the 'terrorist attacks'. While I was in JFK waiting to board my plane home I was looking around at the significant lack of security - in the UK we have armed police with automatic weapons who are always visible in airports. I asked a member of staff why there was no police presence, and he replied "We don't need security like that in this country, we don't have maniacs like the IRA threatening us. " he then scoffed at me. I pointed out the oaklahoma bomb, the twin towers bomb, the Lokerbie plane bomb in the 80s (against US passengers) and the US embassy bombs northen africa and the middle east. He looked at me like I was an idiot, and went on to tell me about the 'fantastic security' provided by the north atlantic defense forces that can respond within minutes to any threat. I looked into this when I got home, and discovered he was right, that there WAS a defense force stationed which could have responded within minutes and could have very easily stopped the second plane. BUT, it was decommissioned a few days before 9/11. Hmmmm, to me that stinks! Why were they removed? The government decided there was no threat from anything on the other side of the Atlantic. What bullshit!!! They well knew that there were islamist terrorist plots involving planes, the FBI had been investigating such plots for over a year. So I ask, why were the NA defence forces decommissioned? It is just too convenient.
Okay. To the person who said if You don't like it, leave [and no this is not directed at Rubin]...that's cute. Instead of making the country a better place, let's just leave, aye? Please. I fucking hate it when I state an opinion against the government and I get slapped with that remark "Well if you hate it so much, leave" I state my opinions, because I would like to see this country become a better place, progress. What good is it going to do anyone if I fucking leave... if all the people who were unhappy with their government, left, changes would never be made. Not to mention, if one country is out of balance, that affects the rest of the world as well. Helping our country, and changing it to make it better doesn't need to be done just for the sake of this country but for the rest of the world. If I left, and moved elsewhere, that wouldn't stop the war in Iraq, and I would still be just as equally as irritated about it as I would have been as a citizen. And I don't blame it ALL on the government, I blame it on the people as well for voting for mentally unstable people to lead our government, for supporting the very things that they then end up complaining about, and for not taking action and changing things. I know too many people who voted for Bush and now regret it. Should have fucking thought of that before. I know too many people who initially supported the war and now say "Now it's just out of hand"...well what did you think, war was going to be simple? People need to start using their fucking heads. If the people don't start using their heads, the government will never improve. It is not just the people's fault, and it is not just the governments fault, it is both. Instead of replying with "if you don't like it then leave" how about "If you don't like it, then get off your arse and do something about it!" fucking speak out if you have a problem.
which 3 do you have ? I want dual citizenship in britain and the USA so i can open up shops in britain and maybe one for Austria because it is supposed to be beautiful. or Norway . Actually sweden sounds good to! Oh and what about Canada, to cold but oh well. I just dont like the USA mostly because of all the uneducated religious fanatics who are mostly in the south, waste of life most of them.
I think it's ridiculous to say the US of A sucks just because you hate the way it's being governed. It's not AMERICA that 'sucks' it's the GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS that 'suck'. Grow up a bit. I'm proud to be an American. I'm proud of where I'm from. I'm proud to be a citizen of a country where you have a lot more freedom than you would elsewhere. Go live in a third world country and THEN say America sucks. (No, I've never lived in one, but I do know of people that have lived there and lived in the states....) Yes, there are conservatives that mess things up, but there are also democrats that mess things up. If you don't like the way things are ran, maybe YOU should do something more than sit on your ass at home complaining on hipforums. If you're going to speak up, do it where it matters.
I agree... if you don't want to do something about it, then I guess you just have to live with it. I on the other hand don't consider myself a proud American, but not because I "hate" my country or anything like that... I just prefer NOT to define myself by my place of residence. I am a total idealist this way, and the idea of boundaries to me, was the worst idea ever imagined. I DO feel lucky that I was born here, rather than elsewhere in which I may not have been able to progress or reach my goals... I give mad props to those who immigrate and work their asses off to get over here and achieve their goals... that takes a lot of fucking effort. It makes me feel a little guilty to have been born into an environment in which I can pretty much strive to do whatever I want... I feel I should have worked for it somehow. Being thankful for those oppurtunities is good, but being arrogant is not...and that's the only thing that would ever make me think that the US sucks, is the type of people who give us a bad name by being completely arrogant about it. Instead of waving your fucking flag around shouting "God bless America!" get up and help those that don't have it so good. I am rather neutral, because to me, where you live does not define you as a person...though culture may be a big influence to a person it isn't everything. There are many things I'm pleased with in the states, as well as equally displeased with...and I'm sure that it's probably pretty much the same everywhere else. No government or way of living will ever be perfect, so instead of complaining, work for any changes you want to see in your world. "You must be the change you want to see in the world"---Gandhi.
Me ?America's laws are made to protect those with unpopular views.Me saying "if you don't like it leave "is just one view. That view is probly unpopular at this website but its just how I see things.Personally I don't think America is that bad and if it is I don't particularly care. What happens because of America doesn't bother me. Mostly because it has never effected me negativily.
A good measure of a country is to compare the people trying to get in to the people trying to get out. I most definately don't hate this Country. Stating your homeland has a problem and actually working to correct it, is one thing. Stating that the US Sucks while you play around on your computer is quite another. Love it or hate it, I don't care. I can tell you that I am proud to be a small part of it and will continue to do so.
Thousands and thousands come into America each week, They vote with thier feet and leave countries behind that are worse. Is anybody leaving America ? It must not be too bad then !
I know a whole lot of people that came here for economic opportunities, but have less freedom here than where they came from. Yes, boys and girls, a lot of people really had more freedom where they came from than they do here. People primarily come here to make more money, whivch this country frequently, but not always gives them the opportunity to do. That's the 'voting with their feet' that they did. One of the reasons that this country has so many problems and continues to take more of our freedoms away is that instead of being idealistic and trying to change things, we get people telling us that if we don't like things here we should go somewhere else. The same people that are saying that are usually part of the problem anyway, helping the fascist, sorry-ass Republicans get re-elected so they can progressively take more of our freedoms away.
Welll, here in New Jersey, a blue state, its the sorry-ass Democrats who are taking our freedoms away. AND raising taxes!
Yea, it's certainly not just the Republicans. There's really not much choice when you go to the polls. I think the Republicans are just doing it at a faster rate, and causing more war-they're better about moralizing about it and the pr aspect than the Democrats are, but they're both doing it.
These people who exchanged economic oportunity in the US for freedom in their home country, where did they come from?
I'm reminded of what a president (FDR?) once said, "A nessesitous man is not free." Meaning that a person who is has to scrambling hard to make a living is not in a position to enjoy whatever freedoms are politicaly avaliable.
Great first post! So the only thing more important than your hatred is making money. Welcome to hipforums you scummy, mouldering piece of shit. I hope an armored truck runs over your head. And I hope Alan Greenspan sodomizes your mother.
I hate everybody who isn't a close relative or friend of mine, but americans are decidedly higher on my black list than the populations of any other country, simply because of them being american.
Impossible; Alan Greenspan is in my basement, subjected to all of my most perverted fantasies. Who's Alan Greenspan?
You know, I understand where this attitude comes from. But once one lives in America from sometime and really analyzes what the government is doing and the way society is living, one begins to realize the problems that it has. Are we saying that it is worse off than other countries? Not persay. We don't know. In all honesty, I wish I did know. Knowledge is power, but at this point I do not have the power to fight for against all other countries' governments. I have to start somewhere though. We all do.
