Newbie trying to start a grow.

I was hessitant to post here partly because I'm intimidated by some of the 'newbs' who got chewed out for stupid questions but mostly because I am paranoid about putting ANY kind of info related to me on the web.

Anyway, I first got interested in growing a few years ago before I started smoking as a way to earn some extra cash. Soon started smoking and decided to finally try and do a grow myself. I have read off and on about growing for the last couple years, and in the last couple months have spent sometimes hours of my day reading, scanning, rereading and rescanning all sorts of information related to indoor grows.

My plan is to buy a very cheap house (there are some not to far from where I live for $80k~) and to use a bedroom as the grow space. I want to create 2 grow chambers in the bedroom that are each about 25sqft. One would hold veg and one flowering. I plan on either 1 1000w MH in the veg chamber or 2 600w MH, and 2 600w HPS lights in the flowering chamber.

EDIT: Reread my post and figured something out. Instead of moving the plants from the veg to flowering space I planned to just flip the lights when it's time. That would mean I'd need 2 HPS ballasts (or one double) in each space, correct?

Each chamber would be constructed of plywood and the insides lined with mylar. They will be 5 or 6 feet tall to accomidate 3 foot plants. The lights will be on cables that ascend through the grow chamber roof and attach to the roof of the room so that the lights can easily be raised or lowered.

There will be an exhaust vent near the top of each grow chamber and a oscilating fan inside the chamber to keep air circulating and temps reasonable. There will also be an intake near the bottom of each chamber opposite the wall with the exhaust. The exhaust will filter through carbon filters and into another part of the house. I also plan to create an ozone generator as an added means of protection.

I am not sure what kind of nutes or system I will use yet but most likely and ebb and flow system. I plan to start with 10 plants in each chamber and let them each veg and flower for roughly 2 months so that I will have a harvest every 2 months. Will 10 plants under 1000-1200 watts be enough to produce 750~ grams dried?

ANOTHER EDIT: The reason for the large grow space and few plants is I plan after a harvest or 2 to expand to 20~ plants.

My biggest concern is because I am not living in the house and the lights and such will be on timers should I randomly leave lights on so that my elec. bill isn't nearly exactly the same each month?

Also should I leave the tub or tubs running while I am there to make it look like the house is acctually in use?

Any advice and criticism postive or NEGATIVE will be VERY helpful. Also please don't sugar coat anything, I'd rather you be a helpful dick to me than me end up behind bars.

 

Everything, basically, sounds pretty good. But I think you're looking more at the end of the story and not so much on how to get yourself there.

I would recommend starting smaller, maybe a 400 watt light and 3'x3'x6' box/cabinet. Learn the art and science of growing before you attempt a commercial venture. After you have two or three successful grows under your belt, you will have learned a multitude about "the reality of growing".
A "vacant" house that is vistited "periodically" by young people would be very suspicious to the neighbors, who would wonder "What the hell is going on in there?" If you're going to buy a house you may as well live in it, there's really no hiding from property ownership!
Can you really qualify to buy a house?

 

I'm pretty sure I could qualify for a house. My credit is good and I'm renting a house now but I'm renting it through a friends dad so it wouldn't show up as an expense. I've also got a really cool boss who has and will 'fudge' my paystubs to make it look like I'm earning more.

I agree that I need more experience. Some friends and I did a very small grow in a friends attic (which ended up getting busted by the rents) so I'm not too totally in the dark about it. As you said, I will most likely start smaller and just try to get a couple good mother plants of various strains and use some clones eventually working up to a commercial grow.

I'm not too worried about neighbors seeing me coming and going. I'm gone a lot of the day with school and work anyway, and I will be there enough to do things like cleaning and lawn maintenance.
