I'm so lucky. I got to see eric clapton with derrick trucks playing some awesome slide with him. Then I got to see derrick again at his concert a week later
I recently watched a pbs show with eric clapton, seeing him play live would of been much cooler tho,,you are lucky
I still think I'd rather see Derek than Eric, but I do have to admit, I have an original painting of clapton on the wall behind me.
i think im gonna see him in chicago in a month. robert crays gonna be there, he's pretty amazing as well.
i saw clapton play and it was an awesome show, and i saw trucks play with allman bros which was sweet but i would like to see just the dereck trucks band.
i saw the derek trucks band in 1992 in sarasota florida usa. at a blues festival that also starred jimmie vaughn, gregg allman, and the davie allison band. derek trucks was amazing and his 10 year little brother was on the drums. crazy huh
you lucky bastard i went to see Clapton and he was supposed to have Derrick Trucks with him, but he wasn't there, i was pissed off but it was still a great concert chaosrugger: Robert Cray is fuckin sweet live, his studio versions aren't near the emotion that guy brings with him on stage, phenominal
Seeing those two togther would be great. Truckers and Haynes togther is something to see. I just know those two togther would be something else.
i saw clapton with derek trucks and robert cray last year. doyle bramhall was there also. it was one of the best concerts ive ever seen.
In 1990 I got a call just as I was moving out of my apartment in Cape Canaveral, Florida. I wasn't sure what I was gonna do just yet, but the person on the other end of the line was Derek's father, Chris Trucks, asking if I'd like to go to Canada to play a string of gigs with his son Derek, who was all of 11&1/2 years old at the time. We opend the tour at a place in Toronto, the name of which slips my mind, but when we went on-stage and started the first song, I nearly shat mice-elf! Derek looked like Dennis the Menace, but the sounds that came outa his Fender Super Reverb amp sounded like a freight-train on steroids! For the next 21 months, he never failed to blow my face off! We played with Bob Dylan for two nights, in Clearwater and Sarasota, and I got to witness several of the coolest moments ever. I was there when Dylan invited Derek up to play with him on the second night, in Sarasota, and Derek started playing some little tasty fills on Highway 51. Dylan started taking notice of the licks emanating from the little monster, turning briefly and smiling, until when it came time for a solo. Then Dylan turned to Derek and started applauding him, egging Derek on. Bob's face turned into one huge smile and he just let the boy run with it. Derek tore the house down and later, me, drummist-extraordinaire Derek Hess, and young Derek Trucks waited backstage for Bob to sign Derek's guitar. When Bob walked down the hall to do the deed, he smiled as soon as he saw Derek. He complimented him, and us as well, signed Derek's Gibson SG, and said he was looking forward to working with him someday. From what I hear and have read, I think that all that has kinda worked-out for them. How freakin' cool is that!?! I'll never forget it!
