Well, actually, i'm sure i want to be one. i'm just having a hard time with trying to quit eating meat.

my family's meat loving. they constantly eat chicken, steak, porkchops, etc. every night, the main course is meat. now, i know my family shouldn't really influence my eating habits, but they hardly buy any fruits or vegetables. they complain that the prices are too high, or that the fruit/vegetables are in bad condition when they're perfectly fine. it's like they don't like fruits/vegetables. they also seem to have a love for ice cream and candy, neither of which i'm fond of.

so, how do i refuse the meat, ice cream, candy, etc. from them? they think i love that stuff, but i really don't. if i don't eat that stuff, i'm pretty much out of food to eat. it's kind of a hard situation, because i have to eat sometimes, but the only thing there to eat is meat, ice cream, candy and potato chips!

was anyone in a similar situation before? or does anyone have any advice?

im 19 so its a little diffrent, but I came home from college with vegetarian tendencys. My family couldnt really figure out why and made fun of me, but weve always had balanced meals. Your best option if all there is is meat is to cook your own simple meals. Potato soup (w/o the bacon), Salads, soups that are veggie in the can (vegetarian vegetable) Also sitting your parents down and explaining that this is how you want to live your life can help. Dont be demanding, and be well informed when you tell them. Also if at all possible buy your own food, its expencive latley, but its the easyers option. And who knows your choice might save you family from the bad health effects of a high protien, high processed sugar diet.

Well i never really liked meat either when i was growing up...although all my family did.

i did used to eat meat (didnt start going strict veggie until 3 months ago)

but i never really liked it that much and usualy tried to avoid it.

i just told my parents i dont like meat, and so sometimes my mom would make something special just for me, or id just make something myself.

my parents still eat meat and now i do not at all, so i told them i went all the way vegitairan, but of course it didnt surprize them. i just told them " yes i want to be more healthy." and told them some bad health reasons about meat. now my paretns have been eating less meat as well (beacause my dad also has high cholestrol)

maybe instead of asking them to stop making meat all together, but to not make meat the main course. perhaps do some reaseach to inform them of more reasons why meat isnt that healthy (i think most parents, since they are older, would care about their health...i mean i dont eat meat for a different reason, but my parents have been eating less meat for their health of course)

so yeah goodluck! or ask them if u can go grocery shopping with them and ask if u can pick out some food thatd ud like or something. i know tis hard being 15 , btu dont worry :)
