so we're going on a family vacation with my dad and my sister to disney world in florida, and i'm kinda worried about taking Landon. I figure that i should take advantage of the free trip though bc I work full time and am always busy and it will be a nice little retreat even if I have to stay behind with the baby. but i'm wondering if you guys have any advice on how to make it easier on him. like how to deal with the sun and the heat. and the flight. i've heard many screaming babies on airplanes.... and i hope he tolerates it ok. any ideas? do you think it will be a good experience over all, or should i be prepared for a fussy babe?

As far as the airplane goes, distraction is the key. Flying places is a lot quicker than driving, but young minds still get bored. If it was me, I'd run him all over the airport, using as much of his energy up as I could. Then let him nap on the plane. Make sure that there is plenty for him to do. To deal with the heat and sun, you may be on your own, my family just jumps right into it. Make sure that everyone is drinking plenty of water, and try to stay in shady areas as much as possible. Don't forget the sunscreen. Everybody I know that has gone to disney world has come back complaining of the sunburn. In reality though, the sun, heat, ad airplane ride wouldn't concern me as much as the large number of people there. Not saying that anything bad will happen, and not trying to worry you, but it is easy to get caught up in the moment of something, just for a second, and then "damn, where's my baby!!!". However, I think it could turn out to be a good overall experience, remember though, the heat will make the grown ups grumpy and short tempered too!

yeah i hate the heat and i know i get grumpy. lol. we're just not used to it. he's only 3 months old. so thats why im worried about all of this.

what is the deal with sunscreen? everything i've read says not to use it under 6 months, but my ped told me in this case i should use it. ??? I hate conflicting information. and theres so much of it out there. I geuss its better to use it so he doesn't burn? but i don't plan on having him in the sun at all. I know it only takes a little bit though to burn...

and yeah, all the people worries me too. but I plan on wearing him most of the time. (just got my moby wrap today!! yay!) and he's too little to run around. I'm just a germaphobe and hate the idea of him being exposed to all of those people.

Personally, I wouldn't go. Go on the vacation to Flordia, skip the trip to Disneyworld.

I didn't realize he was only 3 months. Guess that limits the risk of him running off! For a 3 month old, I probably wouldn't use sunscreen, maybe take an umbrella instead? I don't know, never used it on my kids. When skye was younger I just limited the amount of time he spent in the sun. Tried to stck to the shadier areas.

I took DS on a plane at 2 months and he pretty much slept the entire time. I'd have a bottle or pacifer ready for take off and descent in case it bothers his ears, but other than that you'll probaby be alright.

I always feel sorry for people with small kids at amusement parks. If the people you are with will help you out and hold him while you ride a ride, taking turns, then it might be fine.

If not, you are likely to be overwhelmed and angry during the trip.
